Hi,
I'm creating a backend for my Access front end in MySQL, and am running tests. I am coming across the infamous "Write Error".
Here's an instance:
I open a form with a subform, and when I go to change a combo-box field, I get the Write Error. Once I click drop changes, I can go ahead and change the field without seeing the error again on any field on either the form or subform. I don't get the error when I change data in a field on the form itself, only when interacting with the subform (likewise, if I close the form or change to design mode, I get the write error).
I'm wondering maybe there's something I'm missing in my connection to MySQL, I am an absolute MySQL novice.
Thanks
Robin

Have you tried using a passthrough query to achieve this?
Not sure how helpful this is, but I once usedAccess to speak with SQL Advantage/Sybase using a passthrough query with no issues, you'd need the fancy connection string which I cannot tell you off hand, might find it if you were to search deeper here, or a quick Google:-)
Hope you find what you needed!

Thanks,
I'm using pass through query for record source on main form now. But two issues came up:
1) OBDC--Failed
2) I can't set a subform record source to a pass-thru query
And I'm still getting the write error.
Wierd enough, I redid all of the links, starting from a backup front end in Access, and I no longer get the OBDC call failed, nor do I get all the write errors.
Now the only write errors I get are when in code I do an rst.update. Working on that now.

I have the following problem :
I have been asked to redevelop a clients website which is written in PHP and
uses MySQL as the backend. This site is on a remote server so there is only
so much I can do with it.
They want me to move it to a Windows box in our office and convert the pages
to asp but retain the backend.
I have installed a copy of MySQL on our windows box (SQL Yog front end) and
have downloaded the pages.

I'm attempting to convert a number of apps to MySQL backends. Having
converted the tables from the MDB backend, I'm running into a number of
differences in behavior between the app using the MDB backend and that
using the MySQL backend.
Several problems seem to boil down to the following: A "Single Form"

At this moment I use MsAccess and i can build about every databound
application i want. Who knows about a serious open source alternative?
Because Windows will be a client platform for some time, i prefer a
solution that (also) supports Windows.
On the net I found a number of products that i looked at, but none of
them gave me the impression of a serious candidate at this moment
(KNoda, Gnome DB Manager, InterBase...).

I've been developing in CFMX with an SQL Server 2000 backend. For cost
reasons, I want to switch to a different database. I'm also moving away
from CFMX to ASP.NET. There are quite a few hosting services for about
$10/mo that have ASP.NET and MySQL Server along with many other features.
I'd like to hear any opinions on using MySQL or any other cost efficient
database. My website doesn't receive much traffic although I do have a chat...

We have developed an Access/Jet database (2000, XP & 2003 versions) that has
been used by clients all around the world for several years and is extremely
robust with 55 tables, 172 hard stored queries (plus about the same in VBA
SQL code), 60 forms and about 18,000 lines of code. The biggest advantage
with Access is that it doesn't cost the client anything for if they don't
have Access already then we provide the Runtime version which makes...

Note: This is different from previous post.
I am coming from a C/C++ background. I have a frontend (written in C#),
my backend was originally meant to be a J2EE application with
PostGreSQL. I am worried about support/maintenance issues going forward
since I no little J2EE (have some Java) - but am no longer able to rely
on the J2EE developer going forward.
I am now seriously considering using WAMP, but I am not yet terribly
convinced...

I've read the MySQL licensing material and what I've found online, but
I'm still unclear about when I have to pay MySQL for a license.
Scenario: I've created an application that stores some data in MySQL
5.0 (InnoDB table types). It connects to MySQL 5.0 via MyODBC.
1.) If I include MySQL 5.0 and MyODBC in the installer, do I have to
buy a separate MySQL license for every copy of the installer I sell?
2.) If I include MySQL 5.0 and...

Hi all,
I am having difficulty displaying records on a frontend MS Access 2000 form using a MySQL backend. The following code works well with the Jet database engine but doesn't work properly using the MySQL backend database. All records are displayed on the form using the Jet, but only one record appears using MySQL. Perhaps it just needs some tweaking to work with MySQL. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
