How To Turn Off "ClearType" In A2007 Runtime

Is there some way of turning off "ClearType" in the Access 2007
runtime? Perhaps a registry tweak? On all of my LCD screens
"ClearType" makes fonts, especially bold fonts, in Access appear
extremely blurry.

The ClearType feature is a function of the operating system. If you go
to your Windows XP desktop, right-mouse click and select "Properties ",
you get your "Display Properties". Select the "Appearance " tab. On this
tab window, you should see the "Effects" button which gets you a dialog
where you can select "ClearType" or "Standard". Good luck.

In my code I would like to use the constant (define in WinGdi.h) CLEARTYPE_QUALITY But that doesn't work!! (it's for CreateFont(...)) A quick look at the header reveal that: == WinGdi.h fragment === #if (_WIN32_WINNT >= 0x0500) #define CLEARTYPE_QUALITY 5 #endif

I downloaded the Office 2007 Beta today and have been clicking around Access and the other Office Apps. They all have clear type switched on despite the fact that I have it turned off in Windows. I couldn't see anywhere to turn it off (maybe I missed it) - hopefully the finished product will have this option. Do other users use clear type? I find that my LCD display is razor sharp with it turned off and all fonts are decidedly blurry...

I've noticed that the Access 2007 Runtime forces "Clear"Type on the user. Is there any way to stop ClearType being used when a database is opened using the runtime?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
