With a spit database, can one work in the backend without problems
(besides opening a table in design mode) for others?

A spit db? Yuk!

Yes I don't see why not. I presume you mean adding new tables but adding
relationships to existing tables won't be possible and neither will
repair/compact.

Hello, I am in the process of designing the following kind of system -- A MySQL database holds hundreds of thousands of entries. All of these entries are periodically processed by a set of backends. Whenever an entry is processed, its related fields are updated. The approaches I am considering for load-balancing are:

Hi! If I correctly understand v7.4 manual, value, say, '2003-11-26 12:00' in TIMESTAMP WITHOUT TIMEZONE column should output '2003-11-26 19:00' for "+08:00" timezone. The following test results seem to be somewhat unexpected. Restting OS timezone (/etc/timezone and /etc/localtime in Linux) does not make the results more comfortable.

Dear reader, By working with a frond-end and back-end databases with the use of linked tables the performance, if both mdb's are on a local drive is reasonable. But in case the backend is located on a network drive the performance is decreasing drastically.

Hello, I'm working on an ASP.NET project (VS 2005) utilizing an Oracle database backend. While I understand that Gridview's are a breeze to work with using SQL Server (hundreds of sites point that out), I don't have that option. So I have a couple questions. 1> Does anyone know of some (presumably good) resources of utilizing ASP.NET...

Hello Split DB (FE & BE) Linked. FE compiled to MDE. For security reasons, I have hidden the BackEnd. However, If the network is down or the FE can't find the Backend, then an Access Error reports exactly where the Backend is. This blows my attempt at hidding the Backend file. I have tried to use the DIR() statement to look for the BE...

I have an existing frontend, connecting to a .mdb to a folder. Now I am wondering whether it would be wise to move the tables in the backend to a DBMS. A colleague tells me that in that case, we have to rewrite all our actionqueries. Select queries would just use the linked tables in the tables screen but all of the actionqueries would...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
