The question is,
we have two options to store images, either in a Database (MySQL,
Postgres, ...) like blob data, or in the hard disk the file and the path in database.
Which option is better? When? Why?

Hi,
I have a system that uploads images as BLOBs in a database. I also
have a function that I use to resize uploaded images before saving as
files. I would like to combine these two by resising the images before
inserting them as BLOBs.
My problem is that (apart from being new to file stuff) my resize
function returns a Resource ID which of course is not the same as the
file handler that was passed to it, it's a reference to an image...

I'd like to read the contents of a file into memory. The problem is that
this file is binary. I then want to store the whole thing in memory to a
database as a blob.
I have no problem reading from a file: I did this:

I have created a form onto which images can be dropped and thus added
to the OLE field of a Table (Access 2000 linked to SQL 2000 server).
I use the Stephen Lebans ExportOLE function to do this and it creates
images on my shared drive beautifully!
Being new at this I wondered if there is an easy way of taking the
image whatever it's size when pasted and always exporting it as 66*75?

Many questions have already been asked and answered about images in
Access... But despite having searched, I have not found an answer to
the following question...
In my DB, several forms display the same 2 jpg images (logos). I do not
want to store the images in the forms themselves as, once in Access,
they increase so much the DB file size.

Hello all!
I am amazed how many posts I have read to store an image in SQL, and just as
many against it. So I learned how to store an image in a SQL db and retrieve
the image. A little tricky, but not too bad. But then I thought I wanted to
try the other way, by putting the file location in SQL and storing the actual
image in another directory.
I plan to have many images on my web application, up to as many as 5000.

Hi all,
I've run into a strange error while trying to store some PNG images in
a MySQL database using MySQLdb. When I try to insert smaller images (<
64kb or so) everything seems to work fine. When I start trying to
insert larger images (~150kb), however, the images get corrupted along
the way.
The result is that only part of the image, e.g. the top 30% of the
image, is stored in the database, and the rest is simply transparent.
