Reading a post regarding network security on a linked database, I saw this post by PDog on number of users in a network Environment... Access Databases on a Network
Generally, Access can handle up to 50 concurrent users over a network without any trouble, but there are other issues to consider:
Does the server and do the client PCs have enough grunt?
Is LAN broadband sufficient?
How big is the database?
How is it split?
I am about to put a very small database (2200 kb back-end) out on the network. I am expecting 75-100 users in the system at any one time. The database is largely Read-Only (with the exception a few record changes made daily).
I have had it in use by ~20 users continuously for the last 6 months, and have had no trouble.
The database is written in Access 2000, and will be run on 99% XP machines. The users PCs will have anywhere from A2K to A2003. Some also will be using RunTime because of no Access or A97. The server is running Windows Server 2003.
Thoughts on what I will run into with the increase of users?
Thanks,
Brad.

It will vary from database to database. Technically you are allowed up to 255 concurrent users but at a certain point the preformance of the database will slow down. Only by trying it will you be able to tell for sure.
Thanks Mary. I'll give it the old college try, and if need be, will switch to a SQL backend.
Thanks.
Brad.

In order to protect software from being copied without licence, I would like

Could you help?

My OS is Windows XP without any network, nor Active Directory. There
are only a few local users. I am trying to list all my local users in

Hello,
I'm trying to decide if the following situation would be workable:
Generate an MS Access Front End (which will run localy on client computers),
which will link to a DBMS (SQL server or Oracle). As far as I know there
will be approx. 30 till 40 users max working on the database. I think
approx. 25 users will actually enter data (others will be mostly reporting
and viewing).
I don't really know the network capacity.

Designed a database in Access 97 that runs on a 2000 server and is
accessed by users using Windows 2000 client.
Reported that no more than 3 users can use it. There is one database
with the tables and the ability for one person to add/edit etc. A
second database links to the tables in the first one and that is
strictly for viewing. I know concurrency can go far higher so

Hi. I am trying to configure a development server environment as follows:
Windows Server 2003 - HTTP/IIS/ASP.NET 2.0 is a server which is on a Windows

Domain.
My questions are: What are ALL of the users that need to be configured to
have permissions on this remote file-system so that ASP.NET...

Thanks in advance for any assistance regarding my question.
I have setup a database with a WIF containing the usernames and p/words
of several unique data entry operators who will be entering data into

I would like to know how I record the username of each unique data
entry operator against any entries they input into the database?

Hi everybody,
I am creating an application with MS Access 2003, using a workgroup
file to manage user connections. I already created several groups in
the workgroup file and assigned them to the users to define their
access-level and rights.
Does anybody know how many simultaneous user access can MS Access 2003
handle?
Thanks,

Get the Name and Phone Number of the Current Windows User in a .NET

I am writing a simple .NET (C#) application. It needs to "automatic"

I guess the name can be retrieved from the environment -- After I
click the Start button of Windows, my name is on the very first line
of the popup menu. So, this information is provided by the Windows

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
