Reading a post regarding network security on a linked database, I saw this post by PDog on number of users in a network Environment... Access Databases on a Network
Generally, Access can handle up to 50 concurrent users over a network without any trouble, but there are other issues to consider:
Does the server and do the client PCs have enough grunt?
Is LAN broadband sufficient?
How big is the database?
How is it split?
I am about to put a very small database (2200 kb back-end) out on the network. I am expecting 75-100 users in the system at any one time. The database is largely Read-Only (with the exception a few record changes made daily).
I have had it in use by ~20 users continuously for the last 6 months, and have had no trouble.
The database is written in Access 2000, and will be run on 99% XP machines. The users PCs will have anywhere from A2K to A2003. Some also will be using RunTime because of no Access or A97. The server is running Windows Server 2003.
Thoughts on what I will run into with the increase of users?

It will vary from database to database. Technically you are allowed up to 255 concurrent users but at a certain point the preformance of the database will slow down. Only by trying it will you be able to tell for sure.

I'm trying to decide if the following situation would be workable:
Generate an MS Access Front End (which will run localy on client computers),
which will link to a DBMS (SQL server or Oracle). As far as I know there
will be approx. 30 till 40 users max working on the database. I think
approx. 25 users will actually enter data (others will be mostly reporting
and viewing).

Reported that no more than 3 users can use it. There is one database
