Hi,
Background:
I have written a Call Logging and Reporting System using PHP that integrates
with an existing MS Access Database. The information in the database is all
held in flat tables with no relationships (I don't know why they did this)
and the users are currently using VBA forms to enter info into the database,

Hi, I'm a bit confused ... when would I rather write an database
application using MS Access and Visual Basic and when (and why) would I
rather write it using Visual Studio .Net?
Is it as easy in Visual Studio to create reports and labels as it's in
Access?`
The advantage of VS.net is that not every user needs Access, right? And
that would eliminate the Access version problem as well I guess.

Helpful folks,
Most of my previous experience with DB2 was on s390 mainframe systems
and the optimizer on this platform always seemed very predictable and
consistent. Since moving to a WinNT/UDB 7.2 environment, the choices
the optimizer makes often seem flaky. But this last example really
floored me. I was hoping someone could explain why I get worse
response time when the optimizer uses two indexes, than when it uses

use of MS Access as front-end. The application is relatively big: around 200
tables, 200 forms and sub-forms, 150 queries and 150 repports, 5GB of data

improves its performance. Perhaps in some respects even sufficient to
partially offset an inadequate or poor database design. Also, and using

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
