Why won't my code pause?

I'm opening a form using the "dialog" windows mode but the code in the
calling form carries on running after the called form opens. I thought that
the dialog windows mode argument of the OpenForm method was supposed to halt
the code until the called form closes - have I got this wrong?

Thanks.

Keith.

Hi Roy, sorry, I realised what was wrong the moment I pressed "send" on this
posting. I had a rogue "acDesign" argument in my calling code (even though
the form was opening normally). Working fine now. Thanks.

Keith.

When will .NET have a low-pause-time garbage collector A low-pause-time garbage collector would greatly improve .NET's ability to serve as a platform for soft real-time systems. It doesn't have to be perfect. For example, I'd be happy with something where there was at most one pause per second, each pause was less than .2 seconds, and half the process's memory was inaccessible to the application due to garbage collection management It...

Greetings everyone. See http://www.spiceisle.com/cgi-bin/slideshow/slideshow.cgi?dir=brian/personal/2005/uk_trip/images&type=jpg The "Pause" button works in IE, but not in Firefox. Any ideas why? If you have any other ideas on how the javascript can be improved, please let me know.

In Access 2002, I designed a simple database for our Safety department to enter results of a survey. There are 41 true/false statements. I have a main form called frmSurvey with a subform called sbfrmAnswers. I put an option group (optAnswers) on the subform with buttons for true or false. To speed entry of the results of the 350+ surveys we've collected, I put the following code in the AfterUpdate event of the option group: With...

I am trying to make a program that will basically simulate a chess clock in python. To do this I have two threads running, one that updates the currently running clock, and one that watches for a keypress. I am using the effbot Console module, and that is where I get the events for the keypresses. But when I press space it crashes shortly after. The program stops, the Console closes, and windows says that the program pythonw.exe has had an...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
