I have a combo box on a form which is based on table tblMachine. On that
combo box I have four columns visible MachineNumber, description, location
and type. The bound column is the MachineNumber and this is not set to 0 as
the machines have its number on which means the user should know the machine
number. My problem is if the user doesn't know the number. I have a button

Can anyone tell me how the initial value displayed in Combo Box is
determined when a form is opened?
I am loading the dropdown from one field ("CategoryName") of a table, with
"ORDER BY ". The values in the dropdown are loaded in the
correct order, but the initial value is not the first row of the dropdown as
I expected.
The field "CategoryName" is not the primary key for the table -- the PK is

I am used to VB6 but need to develop something in .Net.
I need to create several bound combo-boxes which will use lookup tables to
get their values.
I created a form using the dataform wizard. As part of the setup, I
specified a new dataset, which included the data & lookup tables. I also

1. Where's the best/recommended placement for command buttons for things
like delete, save, edit, cancel buttons - in the footer, or on the form
detail section?

I have a main form called frmDemo with a subform frmStageTrack_Sub. On
the subform is a Combo Box CboTermID. The frmDemo is tied to tblDemo
and the frmStageTrack_Sub is tied to tblStageTrack. What I would like
to do is when a new record is created in frmDemo I would like to set
the CboTermID on the subform to a default value, say 1, without the
user having to set focus on the subform and selecting an item from the

I have a form with two combo boxes. The value chosen in the first
combo box (cbo1) is supposed to change the values that appear in the
second combo box (cbo2). This currently works great for the first
record entered by the user (continuous forms). However in the second
record, cbo2 shows the values influenced by cbo1 in the first record,
rather than the 2nd record (i.e. it doesn't update).

So I have a subform that lists the various items on a particular
invoice.
First, the user selects a product class from the Class dropdown. This
is bound to the Class field in the InvioceLines table. The rowsource
for the combobox is:
ClassName, ClassID, ClassSort
from the Class table, with the bound column set to ClassID.

and of course nothing happens.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
