Good practise

Hi All

Just a question about good Access design.

I have a form which displays some information from different tables through comboboxes(whic h the user selects) and textboxes. There are then some fileds on this same form that the user fills in themselves.

My impression is that when the user then goes to save this form, all the fields on this form (whether populated from a different table or not) is then saved to a table that contains all fields that corresponds to all boxes on the form.

Hope I dont sound too confusing.

Thanks

If the form is bound to the table and all the appropriate textboxes have their control source set to the appropriate fields then the record will be saved.

Thanks for the reply.

Well all the tables are linked from a IBM Iseries server(AS400) via a ODBC link.

So I have written a query to autofill x amount of the boxes on the form .This data is populated from a company employee table which I dont want write data back into, therefore the question for saving this data and other data for this same form to a complete new table

So I take it writing an INSERT INTO statement on a save button will be good for saving all this data?

Thanks

Yes an "INSERT INTO ..." statement should work. Put the statement in a string variable (strSQL). Followed by a DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL statement.

I decided to run some code with errors set to E_ALL, just to see what I would run across. It caught a few things, but 90% or better of the messages were of the 'undefined' kind: PHP Notice: Undefined variable PHP Notice: Undefined index PHP Notice: Undefined property I'd like to go back and fix what I can, but I'm wondering: how good...
