Creating an Interactive Calendar in Access

43 New Member
Hi,
I am doing a school coursework project that in Access for my Father's touring business.

The database will contain tables holding details of the client (and their requested tour date and type), the tour types available and the ferry arrangements.

I would like to create an aesthetically pleasing calendar that holds details of the client name, tour type (e.g. American - 1 Day) and shows this so at a glance it is possible to see what days are booked up and which days are free.
Also, some kind of colour scheme would be useful to draw attention to the booked days, e.g. if a tour is entered for a day then the box goes red.

Many thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide

The one thing I can think of is to use one of the calendars already premade in Access. On the form design tools there is an option for "More Controls" and use the "Calendar Control 9.0" or just look through the list, there is a Microsoft Time and Date control that also works.

Have this lookup some information to display in list, almost like a table within the form.

I think it could look fairly good doing it this way, and is very usable. However, you may need some help binding the date you select to what information is displayed. I haven't quite figured that one out.

Thank you so much for your help, the calendar control makes it look great.

However, I am pretty new to Access and am not sure how you would lookup the details and dates from another table. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance

My db looks after the hiring and lending of equipment, the form which books out equipment hired prints a signout sheet and automatically inserts an appointment into outlook advising the operator on the due date that a particular hire is due. I have used microsoft's automated appointment code to do this, what I would also like the code to do is to email an appointment to the person hiring the gear. Knowing that you can email an...

I want to be able to create a calendar where the user can type text on a paricular day of the month on the calendar (similar to MS Outlook calendar). Is there any way this can be done in Access. I have tried the Active X calendar but this only allows you to select the date. Thaks in advance Dawn Davis

If you're listening, I want the middle of the calendar (showing 1 month) to open below the cursor position. It currently opens just to the right and below the cursor position. I hunted through the code, but can't determine what to alter. Very nice piece of work, by the way. Thanks

Hi, I want to create a calendar of events on a web page similar to asp.calendar control. I want to remove the links from the days that have no events thereby making them non-clickable. I want to store the information in the MS Access DB that I will display when a user clicks on the day. When a user clicks on a day I want to display the information on the same page as the calendar. I have no idea as where to being and how to do this as I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
