Closing Access using command line switches???

4 New Member
I was wondering if there is any way to close Access using command line swithes? Currently I have a batch file that calls the .mdb runs a macro and compacts, then I would like to close it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I assume that you do the Compact of the database within the macro.
Just add a Quit macro command at the end of the macro after the compact.

I have a mySQL database located on a remote host's server. I would like to schedule a task on my local Windows computer to retrieve a backup/dump of this remote database. I have contacted my host, and they indicated that the server is only open to the Internet via mySQL. Therefore, even if I did have access to that server's command line (which I don't) to create dumps via mysqldump, I would not be able to retrieve via FTP. Does...

I would like to use a command line switch to open an Access 2K database that is secured with a simple password (not full blown workgroup security). The /pwd and /user switches seem to be geared for the workgroup security group approach. Is there a simple command line switch that I can use for my purposes? I don't see anything in the help documentation. -- Posted via http://dbforums.com

Hello All, I've got a VB.net windows form app that I have created to solve some recurring maintenance tasks. What I would like to do is build functionality into this application so that accepts command switches like. C:\FooApp\Foobar.exe /quiet that the application will load and process tasks with no user input, but when C:\FooApp\Foobar.exe is run that it would load my windows form interface. Does that make sense? Can anyone help me...

I'm trying to programmatically run msinfo32.exe /? with the following line of code but it is not taking the switch: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("c:\program files\common files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe /?") I have a couple other command line tools with switches that I would like to programmatically execute as well. I'm thinking there is another way to do this but am coming up short. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a question. I am doing some work for someone and I have a batch file that they can run that will execute an OSQL line and a DTSRUN line. In both lines I run them using the /S /U /P switches and of course the /N or /i switch to tell it what to run. I have also tried replacing the /U /P switches with the /E switch. My problem is that as long as I specify the users password on the OSQL line (either with /U & /P or with /E & /P) it...

Hi everyone, My goal is to pull command switches/options from a file and then assign the values to select variables which would eventually be included in a class object. The data file looks something like this but the switches could be in any order and not all may be used. -m quemanager -s server -p port -k key -o object -c 20 -t test@email.com

A few years ago I deployed an MS Access DB, users used to have a login and pword to get into the DB. I now migrated the DB to an Advanced Server 2003. Question 1. The problem is that the DB no longer authenticates (uname &pword). Is this a flaw in Advanced Server? Question 2. How can I fix it?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
