filling in control on newly opened form

I know I've done this before but I can't find where I did it or remember
exactly how. The situation is this:

There is a form of equipment with primary key EquipID. There a continuous
subform of log items related to each EquipID. If the user dbl clicks a log
item, it opens up a second form, frmLogItems and shows only the log entry
they double clicked. No problems here. On the first main form, there is also
a command button to enter a new log item. This opens up that same form only
to a new record. The problem is, EquipID is now null, so the user would have
to specifically select the piece of equipment that the log entry is related
to. Isn't there a way to open up the form to a new record and automatically
pass it the EquipID value?

Yes. Read up on DoCmd.OpenForm, specifically the last argument =
OpenArgs. That's an elegant way to pass information to the form, and
in the Form_Open it can set EquipID to the passed-in value.

Hi! I posted this question in browser_ctl group as well but got no results. I have a form with embedded WebBrowser. Upon clicking on a link in the embedded webbrowser that calls JavaScript's window.open() call where I pass different width, height, top, left and other parameters, I open a new form of the same type as the original. I noticed that the webbrowser in the newly opened form is shifted to the right and bottom leaving gray areas...

I have a non trivial ASP.NET Web application that implements its navigation system via a user control (menu.ascx) placed on every page. It is important to note that the user control that hosts the menu is injected into every page at runtime when the page is requested (i.e., it's not declared in any ASPX). The user control contains a menu that is dynamically populated and styled at runtime (fwiw: it's ComponentArt's Menu for ASP.NET -...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
