Wrong precision when linked to a SQL Server view

Hi all,

In an Access 2003 db I have a linked table to a SQL Server view. This
view is based on a SQL Server table with a column defined as
NUMERIC(4,2).

When I create an Access linked table directly to the SQL Server table,
the column definition in Access is just fine.
When I create an Access linked table to the SQL Server view, then the
column precision is wrong, it will always be 3,1, instead off 4,2.

What can I do to make Access to correctly import the right column
precision?

Thanks, Joep

Hi there, I'm pretty new to SQL and am having some porblems with a linked server. I have a table on a SQL server which stores employee information. I also have a view on a linked server which stores the same information. What I would like to happen is, whenever the view changes on the linked server I want the information to be changed in the table on my server. I've been trying to write a trigger to do this, but have had no

Hi, I have 2 sql servers (A and B) and have established a link between them using sp_addlinkedserver. I have created a table (test) on sql server A. I have created a view (test) on sql server B that selects from the table (test) on sql server A. When I select from the view on sql server B I am able to retrieve rows from the view(on B)/table(on A) with the following query: Query on sql server B (where test is the view)

I've a SQL view performing a number of very precise calculations ie. 495/(1.112 - (.00043499*((Col1 + Col2 + Col3))) + ( .00000055 * ((Col1 + Col2 + Col3)) * ((Col1 + Col2 + Col3))) - (.00028826 * Col4))) - 450)/100 Obviously this sometimes causes a precision issues because the float and real datatypes don't hold precise values... My problem is that converting to the numeric or decimal datatype easily produces an error if the...

Hi all, I've got a Front End / Back End database that was working just fine. One day i opened the FE to find that if I tried to open one of the linked tables from the database window, nothing happened (hourglass for about 2 seconds then nothing). I tried relinking the tables and got the same response. (Access even completely bombed out once with a Dr Watson failure).

I have an Access application linked to a SQL Server 2000 database using ODBC. Call this database/server pair DB1 Part of the app needs to link to another local 2000 server to get data from another application database. Call it DB2 I have made a view in DB1 that brings in the data from DB2. I then link the view to the Access app. I have created a linked server login between the two DBs (call it appuser) so calls to the view can get...

Hi, I've encountered difficulties in maintaining the primary key of a SQL Server view linked dynamically in VBA to an Access database. If I use the transferDatabase function, then the user is prompted to choose the unique identifyer. If I create the link via the ADOX catalog, then the key is lost and the data isn't updatable. The goal is to create a dynamically linked updatable view without prompting the user. Any suggestions?

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the groups about linking to an Access mdb with the SQL Server Jet OLE DB provider and I havent been able to find a straight forward solution. Basically, I have an Access MDB (A2K) on one server and a SQL Server DB (2005 std ed.) on another - Both on the same network. I'm trying to create a linked server object in the SQL server to view data in the mdb. I've set it up and it works - but only from...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
