Managing table Links from MDB To SQL 2000

Access 2000 (mdb / mde) Frt End to SQL 2000 Backend

I have an Access app that is linked to SQL 2000 using the DSN-Less
method.
I have 3 sql servers (3 different locations) that contain the exact
same database (achieved through replication) When the user moves to a
different office, they need to connect to the sql server located in
that office for speed issues. I am trying to create a user interface
to allow the user to connect to different sql servers as they move
between offices. Keep in mind that it has to be "end user friendly for
those who do not think that "computers are our friends".

I would like to store the sql server connection info in a local table
and basiclly allow the user to select which server they would like to
connect to from a form with a combo or listbox.
I need for it to perform as follows during startup.

1 - ck for connection to the sql server, if found then refresh the
links.(this would be the last server it was connected to)

2 - If the sql server is not found, then display msg "server not
found", display a form to allow the user to select (via a combo or
listbox) from 3 different sql servers.

3 - then establish the links to ALL tables within the specified
database.

All of this with basiclly a single click.

Now that's not asking too much, is it?

As Always Any and ALL help is truely appreciated!
Dale

I would be interested to hear how others are managing their javascript (.js) files from the original code vs the obfuscated version they publish to their site/webapp. I currently manage 2 files, and everytime i need to make a change, I have to switch the names, test, then rename again, obfuscate to the original file name (because this is the file referenced in php/perl/asp whatever files). So its kind of a pain. Any thoughts out...

Can anyone tell me what goes on beneath the hood with table linking in Access? We have a speed issue with our database. It uses access for the front end and the back end. Prior to splitting the database it took 15 seconds to open it over the network. Now with the split it takes 2 minutes 15 seconds to open. We are exploring all options. Advice Please! -Tim

Can anyone guide me through changing the location of my linked tables through the Linked Table Manager? (MS-Access 2000) Here's what I've done: I'm in the front-end application on a split database of course. I open the Linked Table Manager, Select all Tables, and check "Always Prompt for new location. This brings up a window which displayed the possible sources which starts out as My Documents. I chose Network Places and that brought...

Managing DHCP Servers using C# They said it was impossible. It couldn't be done. But you can in fact manage DHCP servers using C#. This includes creating and deleting Scopes, SuperScopes, Reservations, Exclusions, Options and so forth. Since the dll that is used was written several years ago by Microsoft, you cannot manage things on the DNS tab when looking at a reservation and few things such as that however it gives you main things you...

I am a VB6 database programmer and have run into a small problem. The company I work for primarily uses Microsoft Access 2000 for the database that is the back end for our software. Well the functionality that I am currently working on creates a table in one database and then links it into the primary database that is used by the program to store and retrieve data from. Here's the problem. I can create the table fine but when I go to link the...

Running MSDE 2000 SP2 on Windows XP SP3. I have a T-SQL script that is relatively simple (adding constraints, inserting rows, etc.) and short (maybe 300 lines, heavily commented). It's an upgrade script I wrote weeks ago, and has worked fine everywhere. After the patch from last Wednesday. "Security Update for SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 (KB948110)", I have gotten the following error on two different machines, using a copy of the...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
