Access 2000 SR-1
I've spent some time investigating this, and researching both here and
on the MS support site. Briefly;
Problem Description:
-------------------------------
I have the following query which I am using to export data into CSV
format;
SELECT reference, referenceseq, raisedby, raisedfunction, raiseddate,
investby, investfunction, investdate, len(description _rec) AS desc_len,
description_rec AS description
FROM [SELECT part1.Reference , part1.Reference Seq, part1.RaisedBy,
part1.RaisedFun ction, part1.RaisedDat e, part1.InvestBy,
part1.InvestFun ction, part1.InvestDat e, description & '||' as
description_rec
FROM part1
]. AS mig_part1;
In the resulting CVS file I am finding that the "descriptio n" ( of
"memo" datatype) column is being trucated.
Investigation
-----------------
* The full text is visible from the query within MS Access.
* The full text is truncated when exported to CSV
* The full text is NOT truncated when exported to html
The view from this group seems to be that the export tool is formatting
the query and
* Research suggests that export is treating the column as "test" and
there is some mechanism for formatting the field within the export
specification, so that export is expecting a "memo" based field.
Questions:
---------------
* Anyone else experienced this?
* Is there a workaround?
* How do I configure export to process the complete "memo" field?
Thanks in advance 0 1556 This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hi all,
Is there a way to "cast" the text datatype fields in order to
not be interpreted as Memo fields in some Delphi data-aware
components? specifically DbGrids ? Should I tweak the
ODBC driver config ? or it is something related to the
client side programming tool? (delphi in this case).

HI
I am using MS Access 2000(runs on OS 2K) to do query on Oracle9i database.
If i use a simple query i will get all data that I query. However, if I do
multiple join tables (say join 8 tables from different databases) columns that
are of memo datatype are truncated ( the last portion of the data is
missing). Some people say not enough memory...

Thanks for the very quick response posting that I can use a memo
datatype to store large amounts of text.
I understand that I can turn on "Can Grow" for a memo type, but is
there either a property or VB code that will allow the text box to
expand vertically as the user adds lines, so that it isn't necessary to
use the vertical scroll bar to...

Something weird I have run into when trying to add a boolean field to an
Access table by code.
-Just wondering if anyone else has run into this. ( vb.net 2005 express )
If I add any other field other than boolean the "command" version of adding
a field works great.
But if I try to add a boolean field, I get an exception error when its...

Hi Everyone,
I have a table in which one of the text fields has become too small (since it only holds 255 characters). To remedy that, I'm trying to change the data type of that field to "memo" in design mode. However, when I go to save the new settings of my table, the error message "Record is too large" pops up and won't allow me to save...

I am new to Access and I'm having trouble with a database someone else created. I am wondring why I am not being able to insert more than 255 characters to a memo field in Access 2003.
We need a field in our database to allow us to enter a short summary of the job we are referencing. I can format the "data type" of the entry to be a "memo"...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
