ODBC Connection Issues

I'm using the TransferDatabas e method to copy down a couple of large
tables from an Oracle database so I can report on them locally. I
linked to the table I want, opened it in design view and checked it's
properties to get the connection string, which is:

ODBC;DSN=D573;S ERVER=D573;;TAB LE=KHAMELEON.HM _COMMISSION_EXT RACT

So I created my macro, used the TransferDatabas e method, set the
Database Name to the above string, the source to KHAMELEON.SY_US ER_ID,
the destination to KHAMELEON_SY_US ER_ID (since Access won't let me use
a period in the table name). The linked table will open fine. When I
delete that linked table and run my macro, it starts to work. It says
Importing at the bottom and the first one or two blue squares pop up,
then it quits and says:

ODBC--connection to 'D573' failed

Is there a time limit? If I walk through and do an Import (not via
macro, actually File>Import, I can sometimes get it to download, but
takes a good 20-30 minutes). Thought maybe I need to keep the
connection window open longer, but no idea.... and thoughts?

Hello All, I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change.... Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue, I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups. That's the setup: Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

Before asking this questions I've spent literally _years_ reading (Meyer, Stroustrup, Holub), googling, asking more general design questions, and just plain thinking about it. I am truly unable to figure out what would be a "proper" OO design (in C++) for this. There may be alternatives to writing my own ODBC handle classes, and I may be interested in them, but I'd like to pursue this particular problem, if for no other reason than to...

DB2ers, Our Windows application connects to any DB2 server using the ODBC driver. It seems there are two ODBC drivers that IBM provides - DB Connect and DB2 Runtime Client. We have tested our product well with DB2 runtime client and it seems to work great. However, one of our customers is using DB Connect 7.1 as the ODBC driver. Although our product seems to be able to connect to the server, query execution behavior is

Hello, I am converting an Access database on our network to a sql 2000 backend and keeping access as the front end. The access database has evolved and been a solution to collect data but now we want to move the tables over to sql 2000. We have successfully done that but are now having difficulties with an ODBC connection. Initiall linking the tables is not an issue and I am able to connect with no problem. However after closing down...

Hope someone can help. This is half an Access question. The half I'm using is Access Xp as a backend data file. I'm using ODBC to connect to the data file. All commands are via SQL type statements (SELECT, UPDATE & INSERT INTO). (I'm using/trialling Realbasic as a frontend). After inserting a record (row) into a table using "INSERT INTO ...." what is the easiest way to obtain the value of a counter field for the record just...

Running DB28.2 on AIX 5.2. I have two questions if its possible for anyone to assist. 1. Is it possible to make use of a 'Shadow Catalog' on DB2 UDB v8.2 on AIX? If so, how? Can anyone give me an example of the SQL to create the appropriate view and catalog table? 2. Is there anyway via the ODBC datasource parameters to influence the SQLTables and SQLColumns stored procedures to use a schema_name when

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
