I have an Access 95 database. This database has run for years and now is
giving me a problem. When opened, the switchboard works fine and the
database functions. However, when I close the switchboard and try to open a
table, query or report, the tabs show up for table, query, report and etc.
However, the white box that lists the names of the tables, queries, reports
does not appear. A small rectangle appears in the upper left hand corner of
the screen but there are no buttons on it so I cannot close it or maximize
it. I tried Access repair and compact and even tried to open it with a
later version but the same problem arises. I cannot convert it to a later
version as it says there is a compile error. As such, I cannot open any
table, query or report, but the database runs via the switchboard. Is this
a corrupt file? Is there any way to reliably fix it or a service I can send
the file to for repair that deals with this type of problem? I have seen
some on the web, but they seem limited to table repair. Does anyone have
experience with this?
Thanks. 2 1844
Lets try the simple answer first.
Open the database so you can see the "small window"
Hit Alt-Minus (the alt key and the Minus key on the keyboard) together. A
menu should appear.
Select Maximize from the menu.

The foucs never gets to the "small rectangle", I can only maximize the
switchboard or the menu with the table, queries, reports etc, and even if I
close both the switchboard and the menu with the tables, queries, reports,
and then close the database, the small rectangle remains with access in the
background.

Looking for a book to help me develop a philosophy for building
databases (particularly on MySQL). And then taking them from concept to
construction.
Something like.... Start by asking which queries you will be performing,
then define all data needed for each of those queries, then progress to
normalize this data, etc.
Any Ideas....thanks...

Hi.
We have a .NET programmer using our SQL server. The database is roughly
8GB at this point, full of all of our inventory, payroll data, etc. for
running reports.
This is on a dual-xeon 3.2Ghz, 4GB DDR, 3x15k RPM SCSI RAID-5, gigabit
ethernet, etc server.
Yet, every once in a while it slows to an absolute crawl. IIS6 is the
front-end, and its limited to a web garden with 4 threads. However,
sometimes only 1 processor does any real...

We recently converted our department wide shared Access97 database to
Access2K. We used to be able to open various reports in design mode and make
changes to the design (or create new reports) even while other users in this
shared database might be using other, unrelated reports.
Now, in Access2k, it appears that whenever you do not have exclusive access,
you cannot make any design changes to reports. It seems that the presence
of any...

Hi,
We have not a smallest access database (30 tables, 160 queries,35
forms,40 reports,15 pages) with some links to other databases and some
sql queries from other databases. The databse is not using many
advanced features and there are only about 15 simple macros.
Recently we have a problem with a need to repair database (2 -4 times
a week).
What is even more alarming is that 2 times happend that even after
repair we could not use...

I've tried to research this problem, and I haven't been able to find
any references to it. Probably because I shouldn't be doing it, but it
was working, and now it's not.
I'm trying to develop a small application to run on our intranet. I
have a lot of old knowledge, and not a lot off access to new knowledge,
so I'm shooting from the hip and fumbling.
I have a small Access database that I'm using as a back end for some
..ASP pages. ...

Very strange behavior, but I suspect some is A2K and some might be for
me to correct. Just trying to see if anyone can help and advise.
We have a database that's been running for a few years with no
problems. We continuously add queries and reports. We're up to about
700 queries (no, not all are used and most are parameter queries - the
business asks a LOT of questions!), and under 250 reports and fewer
than 15 forms.
Data is...

I searched around a little bit, but didn't come up with the answer to
this question, but somewhere in the back of my mind, I think this can
be done...
Let's say we have two different company functions: Sales and
Operations
The Operations database is considered the "main" one...we are using
this daily and it works very well.

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
