Bypassing a dialog

Hi,

I'm trying to have an Access 2002 dialog form hide itself automatically
before being displayed under certain conditions. But setting Me.Visible
= False in the Open event has no effect. It's False anyway at that
point, and gets set to True again when Open completes, and the dialog
is displayed.

Any suggestions?

Jerry

Why not check if it should be hidden or visible prior to opening?
Dim intHide As Integer
Dim blnHide As Boolean
blnHide = (1<>2)
intHide = IIF(blnHide,acH idden,acWindowN ormal)
DoCmd.OpenForm "Test", , , , , intHide

I had tried that yesterday, but since I couldn't remember why it didn't
work, I tried again, and I think I got it working <g>.

There are two issues:
1. The dialog has to run some processes before the main form can select
data.
2. I keep the dialog open, so the user can redisplay it and modify
selection settings.

I handled #1 in bypass/hidden mode by running the dialog's processes
from the main form after opening it hidden. This way, they complete
before the main form code continues.

For #2, if the dialog is opened as hidden, it can't be opened as a
dialog any more. So I close it after the processes are run, when it's
open in bypass/hidden mode. (Since the user never got a chance to
change the settings, that's OK).

It's not as clean as I'd like, but it seems to be working.

Thanks,

Jerry

Let me try to make clear what my concern is. I think it is a pretty interesting one, which I think of while I am developing my web application. I have an authenticated/authorized web application. People have to login from http://mydomain.com/ to access the information on my site. For now, this is working fine. People cannot bypass the login form, any attempt to check out a page (if they happen to know the file name) will be...

Hello, I am developing a VB.NET 2003 application that will use lots of Crystal Reports. Sometimes the users will preview a report in a Crystal report viewer, and sometimes they will send the report directly to the printer bypassing the Crystal report viewer altogether. When sending the job directly to the printer I use the PrintToPrinter command CR.PrintToPrinter(1, False, 0, 0)

I want to bypass the Windows Form Designer in VS, to create a form programmatically. The elements of the form are to be arranged in a table, and I want the size of the table (and therefore the number of elements) to be determined at runtime, so dragging and dropping on the Form Designer won't cut the mustard. I'm coming from a Java background, and have almost always built my GUI's programmatically, but I realize that in C# this practice...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
