Hi all,
I'm fairly new to all this .net stuff so this question may have an
obvious answer.
I have my first app written in c#, I have installed the latest .net
redistributable on to a WinXP machine, I copy the required files for the
app to this machine and run it, the application runs and functions
perfectly.

Hi All
Probably way off the mark here, but I have IIS running on my WinXP machine
and I thought I could host multiple domains over the old Win98 method where
I could only have the one?
All I can see at the moment is that I have a Default Web Site, which is
associated to MyPC, and all I can create is virtual directories/folders
within this default location. This means that instead of me being able to
create the desired effect of:

I am attempting to deploy my .Net Application from my WinXP
development machine to production systems based upon WinNT and Win98.
I believe that it is mostly working except for code relating to the
error coding. I have error coding that warns the user of problems
with the information supplied. I used
"System.Windows.Forms.ErrorProvider" based error coding which flags
the control with the problem data for the user. The app blows when...

I have earlier used an HttpModule that did URL rewrites on the BeginRequest
event.
Now I am trying to use the same module in a different application on a new
and upgraded machine (winxp sp2).
The Module is registered via Web.config. The registration is OK. When asking
for an existing .aspx page, the eventhandler is called as it should.
HOWEVER - if the request url is for a non-existant file, I get a 404 - file

Hi,
I am having a problem with .Net / Visual Studio that I can't find the cause
of. I have searched newsgroups and the web and find people with similar but
different (I think) problems. Here's the issue and some of what I've found
out - I really hope it's familiar to someone and there's an answer!
I have a solution with about a dozen projects, including 2 asp.net web
applications and 1 asp.net web service project. Having migrated to...

Hello,
I'm using ActiveState's perl v5.8.7 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
on a WinXP machine.
I'd like to know if there's a easy way to dump a list of the installed
modules (via ppm) and be able to install them on another window machine.
I'm not sure there's a quick way to do this or if it's easier to
download the .ppd files in a directory and install them.

Hi all,
I'm trying to capture the WM_QUERYENDSESSION message in a Windows Form
and prevent the session from shutting down. I overrode the Form's
WndProc method to do this, but I'm completely dumbfounded, because it
seems to work on every Windows computer I can find in the office and at
home (Win98 and WinXP machines), _except_ my development machine. On my
machine, the Form's WndProc method never even receives the
WM_QUERYENDSESSION...

Hello,
I'll try to give what I think is sufficient and relevant information about my problem but feel free to ask questions if you need to know more to understand my problem.
I have developed a .NET application using VS 2005 and the about dialog box tells me it's using .NET 2.0.xxx.xxxx. My app works great on my development box (WinXP SP2) and I do not have .NET3.5 installed. However when I run my same app on a test machine, also running...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
