I am using Access 2002 with either Service Pack 1 or 3. (I have seen
this problem on 4 different OSs (NT, XP Home, XP Pro, Winows 2000)
across 8 different machines)
I have an ActiveX Object (Microsoft Common dialog Control, version 6)
that, when I attempt add or copy the control in an access application,
I get the above error.
When attempting to use the Microsoft Communications Control, version
6.0 ActiveX object I get the error "The OLE server isn't registered.
To register teh OLE server, reinstall it."
Both Comdlg32.OCX and Comctl32.ocx are present on the machines in the
System32 directory.
I can use any existing CommonDialog ActiveX object that exists in an
Access application. It appears that I can use other Microsoft ActiveX
objects but I can not use any "version 6.0" ActiveX objects.
Any ideas on what I need to do to get them operational again? 4 12589
what are you using the CommonDialog control to do? There's a good
chance you don't need to use an ActiveX control at all.
There are two types of licencing for ActiveX controls; user licence and
developer licence.
A user licence (which is what you have) allows you to use the control in an
application.
A developer licence allows you to implement a control in an application.
If you previously implemented these controls then you need to re-install the
application which gave you the developer licence (e,g, Visual Dtudio 6).

Terry Kreft,
Thanks that is it! I uninstalled Visual Studio 6 a while ago because I
wasn't using it that much. I will just put it back. Thanks again.

Or, entirely avoid having to distribute, install, and register an Active X
by just using the Common Dialog Open/Save File APIs as described in http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0001.htm. It even includes sample code for
calling it; worked first time for me; and, it simplifies distribution and
maintenance significantly.

I've got what should be a simple assignment of either an element value
or a default string to a variable, but when the element doesn't exist I
get an "Object required" error rather than an assignment of the default
value.
I originally used the simple statement:
var v = document.getElementById('foo').value ||
parent.document.getElementById('foo').value ||
'unknown';

Hey guys:
What can I do when an "Error Creating Control" is displayed on the form
(instead of the control), and a tooltip indicating the error never is
displayed?
Is there some log, some hidden message, some entry in registry where a
log is created (or that enables a log, trace, dump or whatever)...
I'm a little bit frustated with this error :-(
Tks,
Ravi.

For IE users, we now encountered a "Click to activate and use this control"

There is a compatibility patch that changes the default bahavior back to

In the following article

We tried Regsvr32 msinet.ocx on his machine. Still does not work, although

I have an application containing WMP and I'd like to create an "online"

I have a unique ASP.NET authentication system that I'm developing wherein my ASP.NET application has to access a certain file on the user's computer...sort of.
I've been researching ActiveX controls and have developed a VB6 ActiveX that is able to do the job.
But... I'm having issues with the lack of security on this object and would like to develop this in VB.NET instead.
I've followed a bunch of examples on how to do this ...they...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
