Conversion Map for Field Type and Field Format

I am doing some database documentation, and need to convert the field
type and field formats in my code into terms I can convey to others
(i.e. Date/Short Date, Number/Double, and so forth.)

Any help you can lend would be appreciated...

Sub FieldInventory( )

Dim db As Database
Dim tdf As TableDef
Dim fld As Field

Set db = CurrentDb
Set tdf = db.TableDefs("t blProjectWorksh eet")

Debug.Print "FieldName" & "/" & "FieldType" & "/" & "FieldSize" & "/" &
"FieldForma t"

For Each fld In tdf.Fields
Debug.Print fld.Name & "/" & fld.Type & "/" & fld.Size & "/" &
Hex$(fld.Attrib utes)
Next fld

Set tdf = Nothing
Set db = Nothing

End Sub

Hi... I am in UK using XP with date format set to dd/mm/yy. I am running an asp site from a server in USA, which is returning the date from a database field retrieved as objrec("todate") in US format mm/dd/yy. To rectify this so as not to confuse visitors to the site I am trying to get the date displayed as dd month yy , e.g. 25 January...

Hi, I'm working with Borland C++ Builder 6.2. My project uses the std::string class. However, Borland in its infinite wisdom has its own string class, AnsiString. To make my life easier, I want to create a function, preferably a conversion operator, to convert from a std::string to an AnsiString. Please note that I don't want to...

My DB is Access 2000 based "possibly written in 2002" and I have to send and receive update files, ported to a UNIX server by FTP, DB unknown. The file content uses a fixed length string, zero filled left. ie; 001332001695001995040601040630 where, 001332,001695,001995,040601,040630

Can anyone point me to a good resource to show me what potential problems I'll have converting from Access 2000 to Access 2003? I understand that 2003 can read and work with the 2000 files, but that 2003 has a different native format? I'd just like to get a good idea of the different issues that might come up. Thanks for any guidance, E

Can I set the Format property in a date/time field in code? Can I set the Input Mask in a date/time field in code? Can I set the Format of a Yes/No field to Checkbox in code? I am working on a remote update of tables and fields and can't find enough information on these things. Also, how do you index a field in code?

Hi, I'm new at this newsgroup and I want do ask some questions and opinions about this subject. I'm developing an application focused in a very specific task: clean and labelling text documents with user-defined structural tags (title, cite, date, paragraph, itemList, ...). It makes the typical pre-processing tasks needed for computational...

Hello Everyone, I have an Append Query that worked fine in Access97 but now fails to work in Access 2000. The error that occurs is that it puts null values in a field due to a "Type Conversion Failure". The field in question is set up as a Long Integer in the target table. When creating values, the Append Query performs a "group by" on...

OK this is a weird one. I've got an import routine going whereby name and address data is pulled into a table from a csv file. I'm having strange results when importing postcode/zip data into a text field. I'm also using an import specification that specifies the post/zip code field is text. If the contents of that column are all...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
