Conversion issues between Acc2k and Acc2003?

Can anyone point me to a good resource to show me what potential problems I'll have converting from Access 2000 to Access 2003? I understand that 2003 can read and work with the 2000 files, but that 2003 has a different native format? I'd just like to get a good idea of the different issues that might come up.

Thanks for any guidance,

E

The default install of A2003 sets up to use the A2000 file format, and many
of us continue to use that, mostly for backward compatibility. You will need
to convert to A2002/3 format to create an MDE, but the conversion is very
simple.

Most of the bugs in A2000 are still there in 2003, such as the Name
AutoCorrect problems, filter problems, faulty Decimal data type, and so on.
Details:

There are also some new bugs. For example, wherever you use a subform in
A2002 or A2003 (regardless of file format), add a text box to the subform
for the field(s) named in LinkChildFields . Failure to do that can cause
Access to crash.

We currently have a rather large application that is in VB.NET 2002. We have just purchased licenses to the 2003/1.1 Framework version of Visual Studio. What kind of conversion, if any, will we need to do to move our application over to the 2003/1.1 version? We will be moving this application over to production within a couple of months, and I don't want to push that down because I have to redo a bunch of stuff. However, I feel it is better...

Hi, I'm new at this newsgroup and I want do ask some questions and opinions about this subject. I'm developing an application focused in a very specific task: clean and labelling text documents with user-defined structural tags (title, cite, date, paragraph, itemList, ...). It makes the typical pre-processing tasks needed for computational linguistics in order to work with big corporas to use statistical tools. But I'm worried that...

Hi All, I'd like to place a subreport onto a report that draws its records from a UNION query. When I design the query and view the records all looks fine. However, when I put the query as the subreport's data source and open it, Access complains that Jet can't find the table, and then when I open up the query itself to look at the SQL, it appears all mangled.

Hello everybody, since days i try to convert Unicode-Strings in VB.NET to ANSI which should be processable in VB6 and converted to unicode again. It should be possible with any codepage, e.g. somebody on a greek PC should be able to handle chinese strings -------------- VB.NET ---------------- 'On the vb.net side (I am pretty sure, it is correct(?)) I have a rather complex commercial Acc2003 application (tab controls, 50K+ lines of VBA code, etc.) that will not run well at all on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have seen posts indicating that Acc2003 MDBs should work on Vista. However, our particular file has too many problems to be viable on a Vista platform. Even converting it to an Acc2007 accdb file has no positive effect. I realize that Vista is new and should be avoided like the...

I'm trying to convert a 1.1 app to 2.0, and keep finding one thing after another that either Framework 2.0 or Visual Studio 2005 doesn't like. Now this - In the global.asax, code that has been running for nearly 4 years now is giving me a problem. The code is supposed to give the user a "clean" page with a login link on it and send an email to me when an app blows up. It also is supposed to write to the event log too.

I have just been asked to port an Access 97 app from an old Pentium 3 to a new Pentium Core-2-Duo PC. On the new PC, Office 2003 is installed. On opening the database, Access provided me with an option to convert the database which I did. However, there are a couple of small issues. For one, there were a couple of conversion errors which it stored in a conversion errors table (saying it could not find the field "description").

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
