distributing Access

I have an access application that I want to roll out to my sales force. I
have a licenced version on access 2003 and the reps do not have the Access
program. How can I distribute the application So that they can run it.

I do have a .net server and all the reps are on its domain, but I would like
to run the program though maybe a runtime or exe or something so I dont have
to buy 50 copies of access.

TIA for the help

Will the sales force always be connected by LAN to your server? That would
be the simplest approach... split the database into a front-end (queries,
forms, reports, macros, modules, and perhaps local lookup tables) and a
back-end (tables, relationships, and data). Give each user a copy of the
front end, and link the tables in the back end.

You can use the Access runtime that comes as part of Visual Studio Tools for
Office. There's a Packaging and Distribution Wizard included in that, and it
costs about as much as one copy of Office Pro, if I recall.

If your sales force is always connected by a slow WAN or the Internet,
and/or sometimes not connected at all, then you have a more difficult task.
If you'll clarify, perhaps someone can make a more concrete suggestion.

Hello Recently changed from using Access to MySQL. Looked at the online docs but could not find anything about the process of distributing a database to customers. Can anyone give me a general idea of what is required. I sort of did a test by simply moving the database files to a different directory but was unable to connect after that through my VB front end. Also If anyone could point me in direction of links that show how to do...

I read an article by, by Mike Groh, in Access-VB-SQL Advisor Magazine, Week 37 that concerns me quite a bit on distributing Access Applications commercially. First I need to describe a "commercial version" of my application that I hope to distribute after completing all the beta testing: A. It was developed using MS AccessXP Pro (developers edition), B. It has a front end MyApplication.mdb and a MyAppBbackend_be.mde; the front end is...

Any help would be grateful :-) Problem: When I test my installation of Access 2000 MDE, I get the following error: "Unrecognised Format".. This means that Access 97 cannot read Access 2000. But I was under the Impression that Access 2000, could be redistributed using Install Shield 7 and that it would not effect the workstations current status. My Current senario is:

I have little or no knowledge as to how a runtime Access database application might be distributed from a website. I am sure that I'm about to find out. I do have one question for you wizards though... My experience has shown that when I have installed applications from the web, my browser generally asks what I want to do with the file... Do I wanna save it? or Do I wanna run it? The browser generally warns about the dangers of executing...

I've done some research on the net and think I have an answer, but I'm just looking for some other opinions. I would like to create an access database file to distribute to others. I would use an excel (which the other users would have) front-end to manipulate the database via vba. I'm assuming that since I'm only distributing the database file and not any part of the access program, there shouldn't be any type of legal issue. Any...

It happens much too often that I have to tell a client how to fix up missing references when I send them an application, especially if the client is distributing it to different users. It makes me look unprofessional (which I guess I am to some extent). I've tried the fixuprefs() function I got from the knowledge base (that uses the qryTestRefs and checks for error 3075), but it doesn't seem to get called, and I still get the problem. I'm...

Hi I have an Access background and I wish to create a window application which will use a SQL connection for its data. I use VS 2005 Professional and know that the SQL Servicer Express edition is part of it. I'm used to distributing my applications split and putting the backend on the server. 1. How do I distribute SSExpress with my application? 2. Is it the same as installing on the client's server machine or does my

Most of my projects are developed in Access 2003. I have not even installed Office 2007 yet! I need to buy VSTO to get the run-time licence for Access 2003. No doubt I will soon need a run-time licence for Access 2007. Is there a version of VSTO that has the Access run-time licence for both version of Access? Or will I need to buy VSTO 2003 now and then VSTO 2007 at a later date? Thanks,

Hi Guys, I just complicated my database and I wanted to know what is the best practice for staff to access the APP. I have split my DB in 2. The back end stores the data and the front end is the App. The database will be placed on a network drive. In my DB I have 4 different forms, there are 4 different staff using the DB. Each have different task to do which is why I had to create different forms. The best way I thought for distributing the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
