list / form linking -- half way done

I have seen things to link list boxes and/or combo boxes to forms such
that when you select an item in the list (or combo) box the form moves
to the matching record.

One example (by Allen Browne) is here:
Using a Combo Box to Find Records
http://allenbrowne.com/ser-03.html

What I have not seen is the reverse: when you use the form's record
navigation buttons to go to the next or previous record, how do you
update the selection in the list (or combo) box?

This is automatic, if you bind (i.e. set the control's ControlSource)
the combobox to a field in the form's recordsource.

Does anyone here find the list comprehension syntax awkward? I like it because it is an expression rather than a series of statements, but it is a little harder to maintain it seems. e.g. you could do: result = for element in list: if element == 'blah':

I am currently working on an application for our Business Office to easily search for new budget codes that we have to establish due to an administrative system conversion we are currently undergoing. They would like to be able to find a new code via searching by old code or searching by the object name. I have the search by old code form done exactly the way they want it. For the search by object name form, I have it set up with a...

I have posted q couple questions about databinding, but figured I'd simplify my questions and see if what I want to do is even possible. I have a database C:\mydatase.mdb In it there is a table tbleCategory In that table are two fields fldCat and fldID. I know how to use ASP and ADO to update a database at a click of a button by sending dynamically created SQL to the database, but it seems like there are new methods out there that...

Hi! On a form I have a calendar. The form is rezised to 1024x768 (Don't worry - this is a training case) when loaded. Now I want to center the calendar on the form so that its edges are equally far from the upper, right, left and bottom borders of the form. I understand I must use the location property, am I right?

I have been using List(of String) when I could easily be using a string array instead. Is it still considered best practice to use Generic list of string rather then a string array? Thanks

I have a multiple select list that is created dynamically based on a previous selection on an asp page. The first thing I do is to clear the curent option list by document.form1.itemcross.length = 0; The only problem is that it leaves the optgroups. How do I also get rid of the optgroups? Thanks

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
