Does anyone here use MSDE with Access?

I'm just wondering if anyone here uses MSDE, and if so, do you use ODBC or
is there a better way to connect? I'd like to start using it just because
of it's scalability if nothing else, but would like to know more about it
from experienced developers.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've used MDSE with both ADPs and MDBs using ODBC, and it works great. The
only problem is that you don't get the SQL Server client tools. Using an ADP
to manage a server database can replace some of what the client tools would
do, but far from all of it.

Many Microsoft developer packages (such as Access 2002 and Office 2002
developer editions) include the Microsoft SQL Server Developer edition, you do
get the client tools with that, and those client tools can manage an MSDE
server just fine. Note that the license will not allow you to use the
developer edition server in your production environment, so you'll still have
to use MSDE for that until you scale up to the SQL Server standard edition.

Thanks Steve,

Have you ever tried to deploy that arrangement using the Package and
Deployment wizard in Developers Edition? Is the ODBC datasource difficult
to reliably deploy?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Steve,

I don't think anyone else here uses MSDE, by the looks of it, or at least
not in any great capacity....or at least, none that respond. ;)

Thanks again.

I'm trying to read up on the rfc's that govern form inputs. Much of what I'm reading is stuff I didn't know before and some of it is alarming. This one left with me questions: http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1867.txt Is this (below) addressed to me as a web designer, or is this addressed to the makers of web browsers? Identifying the type of file being uploaded seems way outside of my scope as a PHP coder. Am I

Does anyone ACTUALLY have the application updater block working? I've been beating my head against the wall on this one for about 3 days. It looks cool. It seems promising. I've even read this guy's blog entry about how to implement it (http://weblogs.asp.net/duncanma/articles/10221.aspx) and how breath takingly simple it is to actually get it done. Damned if I can get it to work.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
