XML Import Error: Too many fields defined.

Hi,

I am trying to import an xml file which has more than 255 fields.
Access is unable to import the xml file into tables and gives the error
message "Too many fields defined." in ImportErrors column.

I was wondering is there any solution to fix the problem.

Please reply.

Thanks in advance.

From the Access 2002 Help file article "About XML Data and Access":

"You can only import a single document at a time into Access. The data
must be in a format that Access recognizes, either in a native format or
through the use of a schema."

And,

"XSLT is a an XML-based language that allows one XML document to be
mapped, or transformed, into another XML document. This provides a way
of transforming an XML document's presentation information from a source
format to a target format and back again."

There is a pointer to this URL for info about XSLT:

Hi I'm stuck with the following schema validation problem in VS.NET 2003: I have two types of xml document and related schema: project and projectCollection. A projectcollection is just a set of projects. Therefore, I wish to include the project customType in the projectCollection namespace. I therefore have declared two xsd documents: project.xsd and projectcollection.xsd

In Access 2000 and 2002, I have created an import specification to import the fixed-width recordset below into an existing table. Hi all, I've just finished almost all of what has turned out to be a real bear of a project. It has to import data from a monthly spreadsheet export from another program, and convert that into normalized data. The task is made more difficult by the fact that the structure itself can vary from month to month (in well defined ways). So, I used the SQL-centric approach, taking vertical stripes at a time so that, for instance, for each...

An Access97 database I wrote contains a dynamic query whose results get exported to Excel. I have WindowsXP and Access97, 2000 and XP installed. When I run the query, it runs trouble free. A customer with Windows98 and Access97 on three different machines runs the query on any of the three and gets error 3190 Too Many Fields Defined. To run the dynamic query, fields for the query are picked from multi-select listboxes. If one selected every...

I went back to read my post and found an error in my description ... here is the post, again, corrected: The following error: "The current field must match the join key '?' in the table that seves as t the 'one' side of one-to-many relationship. Enter a record in the 'one' side table with the desired key value, and then make the entry with the desired join key in the 'many-only' table."

I have 400 different Excel-spreadsheetfiles, same structure, all with only one record in it, and all residing in the same folder. Every now and then new Excel files are being added. In my Access file I have a form and via a button on that form I would like to periodicly automatically import all of those (new) Excelfiles in an Access table with an identical structure. What's the easiest way of making such an automated import? Is this doable?...

I have a table in 2003 that has 221 fields defined. I tried to add another variable and got this error. I was surprised when it didn't say too many fields defined. I look at the error description and it says size greater than the largest permissible size of 2K. what value does this 2k refer to? if I do a size on the table it shows 1901.

I'm using Python for what is becoming a sizeable project and I'm already running into problems organizing code and importing packages. I feel like the Python package system, in particular the isomorphism between filesystem and namespace, doesn't seem very well suited for big projects. However, I might not really understand the Pythonic way. I'm not sure if I have a specific question here, just a general plea for advice. 1) Namespace....

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
