Problem retrieving printer information for this

Having recently upgraded to Access 2002 at work, we have encountered
the error message "Problem retrieving printer information for this
object". Looking back through earlier posts, it appears that this is a
common problem with Access 2002, but that no definitive solution has
been posted.
I also notice that the last time it was posted was December 2003, so I
am wondering if it is not affecting so many people now.
Does anybody know the best solution to this error message?
Cheers.

There are KB articles covering this error for Access 2003:

Article ID : 825875
Last Review : February 3, 2005
Revision : 2.0

and 2002 and 2000 as well (referred to in above) which suggests that
the problem hasn't gone away.

I am using VB6 SP6. I have an application that prints charts. Specifically, it prints line charts of plant process information nightly. The code is a mix of API calls and Printer methods. I am currently migrating to a new PC running XP. The charting application is hanging on a single line of code: Printer.Orientation = vbPRORLandscape It throws an error '484', "Problem getting information from the printer. Make sure printer is set up...

Does anyone know how I can write a program to retrieve information about printers. Not the print queues but the physical hardware printer. I want to retrieve info such as pages printed. If anyone has a sample program or can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Here is a report I've written about a printing problem that is being experienced by a particular company for whom I had developed a A97 system. After upgrading to Win XP and AXP, some printing problems have arisen. My investigations show that it is not related to the particular system I developed. but is affecting Access in general. So, has nothing to do with reports being set to print to a default printer (which they all are) or to a...

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a MS Access 2002 issue I'm having. Problem - I created a db in Access 97 which worked just fine for several years. In the db the user can generate reports straight to a printer after a query has run. The user of this db just got a new computer with Windows XP and Access 2002. Now when the user runs the report the following error message is displayed:

I have a printer that is hookup using LPT1 and is shared. I can print the report when changing to a network printer. I have deleted, reinstalled, changed drivers, left that printer installed and added another local printer with different driver, changed share name and still can't print to the local printer. Any ideas?

In this brief tutorial I'll describe how you retrieve information from an Active Directory through the OLE-DB extension. While it is possible to use the LDAP extension to achieve the same goal, as you will see using Microsoft's OLE-DB provider is much easier. You will need to download and install the OLE-DB extension. Here's the location once again: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=171247&package_id=198554. See my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
