Generate a "data dictionary" on an Access table

Is there a way to generate a listing of some/all of the "field descriptors"
for an ACCESS table?
I am a SAS user and am looking for something like SAS's proc CONTENTS which
generates a basic "data dictionary" on a SAS dataset.

Is there something like this 'built into' MS-ACCESS?

Thanks.

Kenneth,
There is the Database Documenter tool which generates an .rtf document that
is nice looking but of limited use. I ended up rolling one of my own for
Charles Schwab.

Danny Lesandrini wrote one a while back... I have to see if I can find
his website (kinda hard when my system insists on blowing up with
amazing frequency!)

http://www.amazecreations.com/datafast/

then download the DataFast Utility.

Back when computer dinosaurs roamed the earth and the precursors to today's Internet were tiny flocks of TDMs living symbiotically with the silicon giants, tracking access to data processing resources was much simpler: you logged in with a userID and password, and when you were done you ended your session by logging out (or occasionally by being disconnected). Connection time was easy to measure, and it made sense to both the customer...

Hi guys, for a while now, we've been flirting with the idea of having a single component in our app that handles all the plumbing for our Db calls ( creating connections, Commands & Parametes etc. ) through an xml definition of each Db call. For instance, a call to a Stored Procedure would be described like this: <data-action id="AddIncident" type="1" data-source="local"

Hi all, I made a question several days before to describe my strange trouble of mysqldump. But I still can't figour it out. Well, I just want to ask another question whether I could just backup my databases by copying the data folder to some place? Then if I meet some disaster, could I just copy the backup folder back to recover my databases? Thank you. Zh.y

Hello all, Before I start I'd like to point out that I am a complete novice when it comes to asp.net - My background is in network and operating systems, and although I have been doing a bit of hobby programming in vb.net and web programming in asp/vbscript in the past, I am pretty much a beginner at asp.net. What I'm trying to do, is to take the "PersonalHomePage" starter kit that MS supplies with VS2005 and tweak it a bit, to make it...

I have a data table that lists a series of items in my database. In my user form, I want the user to be able to filter by a number of criteria (e.g. location, contract, date modified, etc). Other than modified date, all my filters are selected via combo boxes. I would like to have the combo boxes update so that if there are no items available in the currently filtered list for a given selection, that selection will not appear in the...

Hi all, Recently I've been working with .netTiers, and in my opinion, it's not very flexible. I mean, to do a join query, i had to create a view, generate with codesmith and compile. So, is .netTiers typed data access so much better than using .net data classes? Thanks, Sharon.

I have a question / concern regarding the new suggested way of creating a data access layer in an n-tier application. Typically, a web application specifically, using the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) approach. At various sites such as 15 Seconds (http://www.15seconds.com/issue/050721.htm) they advocate using the TableAdapter wizard to generate the data access layer. Describing the TableAdapter wizard, here is a quote from the...

Hello, Looking for opinions on a fairly simple task, new to ASP.net (C#) and want to make sure I do this as efficiently as possible. I have a web based form, and I need to run some SQL before submit, which determines exactly where to send the form contents. The table of "receipients" could contain in the region of 3,500 recipients but is more likely to contain up to 1,000. Table structure:

Hi Guys, This should be quite simple but my brains are being seriously racked. I have created a data access page as the report I want to generate is 4 pages (too long for a regular report). Access page looks good and works well with my query. The problem is, it will only print off in landscape regardless of how many times I change it to portrait. I have edited it both in Access and Frontpage by editing the actual html document. I have...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
