Adding index marks for Word

My phone directory project is moving along. Its a series of reports and
documents that all get imported into Word, via RTF files or whatever.

I need to create a couple of indexes. Is there a way to insert the index
marks within a database report, such that when I export the file to RTF,
word will recognize those indexes?

Thanks,

Mike

Short answer - NO. Have you thought about using the mail merge wizard in
Word? That would allow a direct link to your indexed queries in the MDB,
and remove the need to regenerate new reports/exports any time a record is
added/edited/deleted.

BTW, unless you like the learning challenge, there /are SO many contact
manager/phone rolodex applications commercially available. MS Outlook seems
to be adequate for most users.

As that as in, "No, I don't know myself," or "No, there is no way to do
that."?

It is a one time printing of a bound booklet, 700 pages.

I appreciate the suggestion, but it is not a regular contact managment kind
of thing. It is a publication for an organization with some special
requirements.

What about generating a concordence file? Can that be done programmaticall y?

I don't mind being called wrong, but think you've (or I)confused the term
"index". I (perhaps wrongly) assumed that the questioner was trying to get
the one of the database indexes into his Word doc. For that, there is no
way to import/export an internal Jet object into any other file format.

As you correctly note, there is indeed a way for Word to generate its own
book-type "index" and/or concordance, and/or table of contents. However,
unless you used a formatted template (one that uses different styles for
topic headers, paragraph heads, etc,) to create your doc, you'll need to go
through the doc by hand and designate what you want to be included in your
"index".

Ed's wrong. There is a way, and it's very easy:

Word's Table Of Contents wizard.

From the "Insert" menu, select "Index and Tables..." and start
selecting your options.

Couldn't find anything here http://www.python.org/doc/2.3.2/lib/string-methods.html I need to cycle through lines in a file that contain words and compare it to a string thats given, call it SSS to see if the words in the file can be written from SSS. Greetings. Do any popular browsers correctly support <q>, at least for Western languages? I've noticed that Mozilla uses the standard English double-quote character, ", regardless of the lang attribute of the HTML document. Will any browsers render German-style quotes or French-style guillemots for lang="de" and lang="fr", respectively? Regards, Tristan

I have a page with 3 divisions overlaying each other. I dynamically change the visibility to switch between them. On the Mac version of IE 5.1 I am not able to activate the scroll bars after making a division visible. Only the originally displayed division works. I am able to click on the data (option select lists) in all of the divisions. There is no problem when I use Netscape. I would like to dynamically change the z-index to see if...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
