Windows Colour Scheme

I'm interested to know if I am the only person in the world who hates
the default Windows XP colour scheme ie. Blue. Whoever was in charge
of this in the Windows design team must have been either colour blind
or mad! If they wanted to choose a more imposing colour, red is about
the only one left!

Lets face it, the average Windows user leaves their colour scheme at
the default, which means that all my sized Access forms not only have
the blue caption bar, they also have a hideous blue border around them.

The other 2 Windows colour scheme options are far less imposing and
IMHO the classic look is even better. But once again a lot of users
don't know their are alternatives or don't bother to change it.

Maybe the next version of Windows due out in the next year or 2 will
have a less annoying default colour scheme like bright purple!
I feel better now that I've had a whinge.

...and if you have the Windows logo and the Centrino logo on the screen
at the same time -- ooooh what a clash!

alright there, i'm pretty much throwing myself on everyone here's mercy, as i'm struggling to even articulate what i mean, never mind create the behaviour i want. i've a website with a navigational frame on the bottom, and the main site taking up the other 90% of the window. each page has got a different background colour, where as the navigational frame obviously stays the same.

When I view this in an Microsoft internet explorer browser it appears with a white background and black text but when I change Windows start menu->settings->control panel ->display -> appearance and change scheme to 'High Contrast Black' the background in the browser changes to black and the text to white. I understand that the windows scheme...

I'm wondering how to access xp theme colours, and i'm not talking about doing the .manifest thing; for example On-Screen Keyboard is blue if you use the default xp colour, while it is dark gray if you use Silver. Oviously those are not the normal colours for a form for those colour schemes.

Hi, I asked Bjarne Stroustrup about the idea of adding colour standard for C++, and he said that it is very difficult for compiler vendors to change their IDE. But do you think it is possible ? Note that the proposed colour standard is not just merely to ease the eye only as what presently is in C++ compilers, but to aid in syntax disambiguation and other advantages. Here are a few advantages that I can think of:

Hallo. A good friend of me develops web suites, for example his own at: www.augenpunkte.de. As you can see there my friend is blind and also he uses a Braille-line to develop these projects. For example his own suite at. But he has a big problem to find out the right colours for his pages and so he asked me for a big list with some colour schemes. A hex-colour-value for each part of a page (Text, Links e.g.) So I have had a look at some...

I need to pop up a modal JS-based dialog (for some reason can't use popup window, much less so showModalDialog()), and I'd like to imitate the system popup titlebar according to user's desktop settings (classic, XP, Vista). No big deal to make it work, but how do I know the style to display? Any chance to figure out these settings programmatically either on the client (preferrable), or possibly in asp.net from something like Request (not...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
