Hello,
I'm looking at a small app which would need a very quick
startup time for the Python interpreter. It doesn't do much (copying
and caching of files, no GUI) but I need the Python interpreter to start
up very quickly (<1 second on a Windows box). Is there a way to have a
'stripped' down Python interpreter which can start up very quickly on a
windows box. Once thing I was thinking of was to use PyExe to make a
quick startup (does...

I'm using the standard NTFS file system. The only time the access time
is updated is when the file is modified or saved (with no changes).
What's up with that? Shouldn't a read/view update the access time?

Hi guys
I have a time critical process, running on a worker thread. By "time
critical", I mean that certain parts of the process must be completed in a
specific time frame. The time when the process starts is not especially
important, but it must be complete within a small number of seconds.
The operations I am performing do not take a long time (hundreds of
milliseconds), but as each part of the process is complete, my worker thread...

In the Python Library Reference the explanation of the time.sleep()
function reads amongst others:
> The actual suspension time may be less than that requested because

> be longer than requested by an arbitrary amount because of the
> scheduling of other activity in the system.
I don't understand the...

hi,
i found out the first time calling the web services takes quite a long time
or after a certain period, calling the web services takes also quite a long
time.
to me, it means that the web service will be cool down when idle for a
certain time. is it true? if yes, how long? can i set it?
thanks!

I'm having a problem creating a delay before each list item gets moved
( http://www.polisource.com/PublicMisc/list-splitter-timeout-bug.html
). Choose any number of columns, vertical layout, and view as a web
page. They'll be a small delay before the entire bunch of list items
converts from left-to-right to top-to-bottom order. I expected a delay
before each item is moved. It looks like I have to flush the buffer to
get setTimeout to work,...

I've a requirement to find the elapsed time between two function
calls. I need to find the time elapsed accurate to 1 millisecond.
The problem I'm facing right now is that, I'm using the 'time()'
function call for the purpose and regardless of how many time I invoke
the function within my program, I get the same output!!!
For better clarity consider the code snippet below.
...
start_time = time(NULL);

I'm doing an embedded systems project and I'm programming it as fully-
portable C89 (except of course for setting the pin values).
I need to put delays in the program, in the vicinity of 250 ms. (They
don't need to be exact).
Does C have a built-in method of putting in delays?
If not, I was thinking of defining a macro called "FLOPS" (i.e.
floating-point operations per second) and then doing something like:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
