Access 2000 unstable queries

I build a query, and find that when I close, and go back to it later,
the query is wrong.

For example, if I use 8 fields, it loses the correct field references,
and instead has 8 occurrences of the first field I select.

I can specify fields like:

Date , Property ,FileID , appraiser, address, jobtype,
lendercasenumbe r

But, when I go back to it, it is like this:

Date, Date, Date, Date, Date, Date, Date, Date.

I reinstalled, and am using MS Access 2000. I'm reading MS Access 2002
database maintained by a program called "A La Mode Wintotal."

I suppose I should upgrade, but don't really use Access much.

Thanks very much for any insight :)

Have you applied all three Service Packs for Access 2000?

I think you can still obtain the required updates from the Office Update
command button on the Windows Update site. If you are on a dialup
connection, you should search for them, and order the CDs (if still
available... Access 2000 is "out of support", already).

Have you searched the Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com to see
if there is an article on this that indicates either a solution or a
workaround?

If neither of these help, then you may need to consider upgrading. To assure
that a newer version will solve the problem, you can download a trial
version... start at http://office.microsoft.com and I think you'll see a
link to download.

I'm not a fan of Access 2000, but in my admittedly-limited use of it, I
never experienced the phenomenon you describe. That, of course, is not to
say that you are NOT experiencing it, but it might be something unique to
your configuration or software setup.

Thanks ! This is good info :)

I agree that I should upgrade. It's just that I use
it so little, it's hard to justify financially, but am
so glad there are things to try out first.

Thanks very much for your time and interest !

Is Access 2000 unstable? I have been trying to learn and set up a database and it seems to be doing some strange things. Like lock ups and not completing some actions in macros and queries. If so is there something to do? Using Win 98 256 ram.

Hi We need some advice: We are thinking of upgrading our Access database from Access 2000 to Access 2004. How stable is MS Office 2003? (particularly Access 2003). We are just a small company and this is a big decision for us(!) It's not just the money it's committing to an new version of Access!

Following on from an earlier post... I can reliably corrupt a record by doing the following ... Open two separate but identical front ends on one PC each linking to the same back end. Edit a records in one front end and leave it unsaved. Edit the same record in the other front end and save the change. Save the change in the first front end - this pops up the Write Conflict message to which I click Save.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
