be able to customize the application on occasion to met some of the users
requirements. We were considering purchasing Access for each user, but I
was wondering if the Access Developer's version would be sufficient for our
needs. What are the pros/cons for using the Developer's Edition rather then
each user having Access.

In an internal group of users such as you describe I do not know of
any reason to use the Developers Edition, you can set Access up to
look the way you want it runuing in Access. The main reason for using
the Developers Edition is where you want to distribute your program to
the outside world.

Not knowing what your needs are its a difficult to answer. There are
workarounds for any limitation if you are good developer so I wouldn't
worry to much about that. The only limitation I could remember was
from Access 95 developers addition which was the Filter By Selection
feature. It simply didn't work. The functionality might have been
there but the right click menu option certainly wasn't.

With the developer version of Access you can create a mde and submit this to
your users with an Access runtime version. In that case your users ca run
the application without a license version of Access and they can't do any
modification in the application but a think that's also what you prefer.

There are issues witht the Developers Version but in general yes that will save you
the cost of licensing Access for the 6-10 users. One issue is that the latest
version for Access 2003 only runs on Win2000 SP3 or Win XP or newer. And not on Win
95, 98, ME or NT 4.0.
