I am developing an Access database with files linked to external
spreadsheets and wish to distribute it as an 'exe' file.
Is this possible and if so, can anyone answer my dumb question?

You don't mention Access version, so what I say may be out of
date... for the Access 97 that I have there is a developer's
version which allows you to distribute a RUNTIME module (it
is, as far as I know, the full Access install with all of the
development interface options disabled) with a wizard in the
program which creates the install routine and the links to
the database application you have created
I will GUESS this is still true, but I have not looked at any
of the newer versions of Access, so am not 100% sure
You should go to the Microsoft site and search around for
your version of Access

For MS Office XP (Access 2002) there is a developer editon, which includes
Access runtime and packaging wizard.
Unfortunately, for MS Office 2003 (Access 2003) there is no such developer
edition, but you must purchase Visual Studio Tools for MS Office :( , which
contains Access 2003 runtime and packaging wizard.

Hello All,
I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up
my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change....
Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue,
I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups.
That's the setup:
Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted
Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

Hi,
I need to deploy a VB.Net application which use MS Access
as the backend database. The client's PC does not have MS
Access installed. So the application can not run at their
PC. I was told that the client's PC should have .Net
framework, latest version of MDAC_Type.exe and the MS
Access .mdb file. I did installed the .Net framework, the
VB.Net application that includes the MS Access .mdb file
in the application folder, and I also...

Hi,
How can I use a MS-Access DB in a computer without Access installed? I
read something about a "runtime" utility, but I don't know how to use
it.
Any help?
Thanks

Yes, I've read the FAQ's...
I'm still confused.
I'm trying to help out a buddy to extract data from an .mdb file that
has special 'permissions' on it.
If I try to open it with the standard system.mdw file, I get the
"Current user account doesn't have permission to covert or enable this
database".

Apologies in advance as I am SURE this has been asked 100 times - but I
haven't got a simple answer:
I have MS Office XP Developer and have created an installation package (with
the runtime) for an Access 2002 database.
The problem: when installing on a Windows XP machine, I get the following

Our IT guys are on a vendetta against MS Access (and Lotus Notes but they've
won that fight). What I can't understand is, what's the problem? Why does
IT hate MS Access so much.
I have tried to find out who it is that actually wants to get rid of it, but
I can't find anyone who will admit to trying to get rid of it. Nevertheless,
I'm always hearing about how their "phasing it out" or "getting rid of it".
Because no-one owns up I can't...

I have a program that interrogates and modifies an Access database. When I run this program from the VB editor it runs fine. When I make the exe file and run that it crashes saying that the "Object invalid or no longer set". Whilst the exe file is in a diferent folder to that of the source, I have made sure I give the full path names to all files I access. Has anyone else had this problem and got any ideas how to fix it. The crash always...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
