SQL, VB and Access

Hi all,
I would like to find out about a Microsoft Access database that was
"converted" to SQL.
Not sure what that means, and would appreciate anyone letting me know.
I'm at the intermediate level with Access and have some VB experience, but
not SQL.
I would like to extract the data from the SQL converted database and burn
it onto a CD. What would be the best method to do this?

My guess is that the database was upsized to SQL Server. That meansd
that the data is no longer held in the Access database file but is
instead held in a separate database which may be on a different machine
on a network. That database may have security restrictions that prevent
you from accessing the data.

If you open the Access database file and look at the tables you will
probably see that some of the database names have an arrow symbol that
indicates a linked table rather than a table held in the Access file.
You can open these in Access and export the data in a variety of
different formats, select Export from the file menu.

Access databases are often upsized when they need to handle large
amounts of data. You may find that there is more data than will fit on a
CD.

Thanks for the SQL / VB / Access information.
I'll be able to use that to accomplish what I need to do.

There's no way to know exactly that means, but it probably means that it
was converted to a SQL Server database. If it's an "Access" database,
then it uses Jet as the DB engine and Jet is a SQL DB.

As for extracting and burning the data onto a CD, Access can export data
into various kinds of formats (including XML for the more recent
versions). All you need to do is figure out what data you need in what
form.
