Access 2000 onwards introduced a restriction that only allows you to
edit and save forms, reports and macros when you have exclusive access
to the database, i.e. no other user has the database open. Is there
any way to overcome this behaviour to allow these objects to be edited
while other users have the database open?

The best solution is to split the database into two:
- a single data file containing all tables, shared.
- a local copy of the program file on each workstation, linked to the data.
Now you can modify your own copy of the database to develop queries, forms,
reports, and code, and simply release an update to the users once your
testing is complete.

I have encountered a problem that I am hoping someone can shed some

I have a multi-user A97 app. All users have a personal front-end MDE

we installed Adobe 7.0 Standard/Professional.
We have an MDB on a LAN file server. Using Access 2K and Windows 2K. When

linked between DB1 and DB2.
From my testing, if I open DB1 exclusively using /excl the backend
DB1BE is not opened exclusively.
If I open DB1 but have no tables open and then open up DB1BE
