MS Access 97 and DOS program to be displayed in a split window.

Is a split window possible for an MS DOS program and MS Access program?? If

so how???

When you run a DOS programn it covers the whole of the PC screen and if you

have other applications you cannot see them in the task bar and you have to

alt-tab to flick through them.

I have an MS Access 97 program that needs to be run in half of the

screenwindow and in the other half of the window the ms dos program

(written in 1986) needs to be run so the user can see both programs. (I do

not have any rights to changing the DOS based program which has been

running for the last 20 years)

Is there a way this can be achieved without having to resize the Access 97

Program and MS Dos program every morning or every time the PC is restarted.

Client Argument
-sales people are too computer illiterate to use alt-tab to flick through

the program list to act as a go between between BITEC and Access 97.
- both programs need to be run at the same time and visible to the sales

person
-the Access 97 Program provides enhanced sales facilities which need to be

accessed whilst data from the DOS program is looked at

Any Help and advice will be appreciated.

Can you have a permanent split window for a DOS program and Access 97

program????

Tom,

Thanks for the PIF suggestion.

I have had a look at PIF files and you can only specify whether an
MS-DOS-based program starts in a full screen or in a window by
changing the Run properties on the Program (or Shortcut) tab.

This solves half the program because i would like the MS DOS program
to open in the available width of the screen and opening it as
minimized does not do this.

Is this possible using PIF files??

I've seen plenty of articles on this topic but none of them have been able to solve my problem. I am working with an Access 97 database on an NT4.0 machine, which has many Access reports. I want my users to be able to select a report, click on a command button on a form, which will then automatically create the report as a pdf file and save it to the user's machine. I am using Adobe Acrobat (5.0 I think) and have Adobe Distiller as a

Hi, I am automating Access reports to PDF using PDF Writer 6.0. I've created a DTS package to run the reports and schedule a job to run this DTS package. If I PC Anywhere into the server on where the job is running, the job runs sucessfully, PDF files got generated, everything is good. If I scheduled the job to run at the time that I am not logged into the server, Access is not able to print to the printer. The error is pretty...

I am responsible for maintaining our departmental intranet pages at work. I would like to put a link from our website to a MS Access database which is held on our Network drive. The problem I have is that if Access has the startup properties set to display a form, MS Access doesn't start (it appears in the processes window in task manager but not in applications). If I change the startup properties so that no form is opened and the...

How will Access fair in a year? Two years? .... The new version of Access seems to service non programmers as a wizard interface to quickly create databases via a fancy wizard. Furthermore, why would you even continue to use Access as a backend when you have a much superior option in SQL express? What about as a future front-end development tool? Let's get serious. Microsoft continues to publish numerous articles and videos on how you...

I have an application I built in Access 2003. It is an electronic medical records program split into front end (8 computers) and back end. This runs flawlessly. Purchased a billing program that uses Postgresql. This resides on the same computer as our Access backend. We keep getting knocked out of the new billing program and never get knocked out of my Access program. The billing software provider says that Access and Postgresql running...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
