Some features not installed A2K, will any CD work to add same?

Hello
The person responsible for installing software at work believes in
installing the bare minimum., which does not include the option to
split a data base into a front and back end.
So, rather than "beg" will any CD work to install more features. Or,
will the add features look for the original CD only. Office 2000
installed and I would use my copy of the same program.

As Tom suggested it would be inadvisable to use your own CD to install missing features, however if all you want to do
is split your db then the wizards are not really required as it is trivially easy to do the split manually.

1. Take a backup copy of your db before you start (for safety)
2. Make a copy of your database so you have 2 identical files.
3. Rename the copy to the name you want for your datafile (MyDbData.mdb)
4. Open this file and delete all objects except the tables (delete all queries, forms, reports, macros, modules etc)
5. Open your original file (front end) and delete all the tables. leave all other objects as they are.
6. Right click inside the tables section of the database window and select Link Tables ...
7. Browse to the location of your new datafile and select it.
8. Select All tables from the list that appears and click OK

The tables will be linked and you now have a split database.

Will try this but... suspect it will not work. But, your method links
from inside the tables, I never tried it that way.
Let me backup..At home I split my database. Then, took my split copy
to work, placed the back end on our server and the front end on the
local computer. But I get an error message about the link to my back
end not being valid. (it seems to default to the default location of
the files i.e. \\my documents\\) Anyway trying to link my tables is
where I run into the problem with "that" feature not being installed.
Thus the desire to have the split data base feature, my reasoning is
that because I can not split, I can not update links either.

knew this when I first made my database...
