I require users to enter Serial Numbers such as:
0105123567 (10 digits), the first 4 being the month and year (mmyy)

We ran into a problem loading access where tables where if we did not
select the property allow zero length we got an error message when
loading data with some empty values.
We are now ramping up SQL server and the question came up will SQL
server have the same problem with empty data values.
Is there an SQL server equivalent to allow zero length?

Either I missed something, or ALTER TABLE does not have this
capability. Is there any way of doing it except
DROPping all constraints which mention this table,
EXPORTing the data,
DROPping the table,
reCREATEing the table without the 'NOT NULL property,
reCREATEing the INDEXes,
reloading the data,
redefining all of DROPped constraints
reCREATE the view which were marked inactive by the above.

How do you retrieve records (lines, rows...whatever) using SQL, searching

combination of quotes (single and double) and "IsEmpty". Many syntax

I have a database where I want to use an autonumber field to make SKUs
for a new product when it is entered. Is there a way I can make the
field zero fill to a certain length? For instance, if I want the field
to be five digits in length, and I enter 123, I want the stored value to
be 00123. Is there a way I can do this? Or is there a better alternative?

I inherited a database. On one of the forms, a bunch of fields on the
form are to be updated with data from a combo box containing many
columns after one particular field is updated. I'm receiving an error
message "Field cannot be a zero length string." I do have some records
with null values for a few fields - no way around that. How can I

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
