Access 97 Printing

I am having trouble with printing from Access 97 on a network.

Win 98se peer to peer network
Comp A has the mdb file and the HP printer connected to LPT1

Comp B opens mdb file on Comp A and prints to shared HP on Comp A.

Comp A crashed and I installed a new hard drive and reloaded all app's and
backed up data, including the mdb file.

Now when I open the mdb file from Comp A it wants to print using the shared
network printer address that Comp B uses.

Is there a way around this problem? Can I use a different print config for
each workstation?

Thanks.

If you want to get under the hood take a look at:

He has lots of sample code in both C and VB.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance. I recently purchased an Ink Dye Sublimation printer and I'm looking to do something with Access for my employee ID Cards. I know I shouldn't store images for bloating purposes, but how do I get an image into a report, say for printing ID cards, if I don't store it in the program? Michael

All, I have exhaustingly been looking through the newsgroups in search of a way to systemically output an Access 97 report to a pdf file using the full version of Adobe Acrobat. I want the user to be able to click a button and have the Access report saved as a pdf in a directory specified by me the programmer. I have seen a posting by John Baker promoting a web-sight that has an mde that one can reference in any database but after 30...

I've seen plenty of articles on this topic but none of them have been able to solve my problem. I am working with an Access 97 database on an NT4.0 machine, which has many Access reports. I want my users to be able to select a report, click on a command button on a form, which will then automatically create the report as a pdf file and save it to the user's machine. I am using Adobe Acrobat (5.0 I think) and have Adobe Distiller as a

I am considering writing a database program that contains text and images with an easy to use interface for my friend's dermatology physician practice. Basically Patient information that links to a database of images containing pictures of the patient's affliction. Is MS Access the best product for this? I did a lot of database programming back in the 80's with a 4th generation database product called Knowledgeman that had a very...

Hi, I am automating Access reports to PDF using PDF Writer 6.0. I've created a DTS package to run the reports and schedule a job to run this DTS package. If I PC Anywhere into the server on where the job is running, the job runs sucessfully, PDF files got generated, everything is good. If I scheduled the job to run at the time that I am not logged into the server, Access is not able to print to the printer. The error is pretty...

This is the approach I used to automate printing of Microsoft Access reports to PDF format i.e. unattended and without annoying "Save As..." dialogs, and - more importantly - without having to use a commercial program such as Adobe Acrobat and its associated API. The technique uses Ghostscript and Redirection Port Monitor - two free programs for creating PDF documents provided free by Russell Lang. The actual automation requires VBA...

I have a employees database with a picture that shows on a form with employee information. Similar to the Northwinds sample database. When I print the record, my output is only the data and does not include the picture. My pictures reside on my C drive. How can I get the picture to print with the record or I would be happy to just print the picture seperately?

Hi, I have an Access 2002 - 2003 database. I am using Access 2003. Whenever I link an image all it shows is the filename. Not the image. Other versions of Access can link the image just fine. The properties look the same whether I use XP or 2003 versions of Office. If I take an earlier version of Access and link the image, it puts the image. I can also see the image in 2003. If I link the image using 2003 it only shows the filename....

Hi, I know Access allows for easy construction of a report setup to print labels from a table/query, etc. I've done that one. It works pretty well for what I need. However, is there an example anywhere that someone can point me to that is more flexible? And, I mean flexible in this regard:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
