Access for Company Identification Cards

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance. I recently purchased an Ink
Dye Sublimation printer and I'm looking to do something with Access for my
employee ID Cards. I know I shouldn't store images for bloating purposes, but
how do I get an image into a report, say for printing ID cards, if I don't
store it in the program?

Store the pics in a directory and then link to them.

That's not necessarily so -- see the article in the referenced download.

The sample imaging databases at http://accdevel.tripod.com illustrate three
approaches to handling images in Access, and the download includes an
article discussing considerations in choosing an approach. Two of the
approaches do not use OLE Objects and, thus, avoid the database bloat, and
some other problems, associated with images in OLE Objects.

Code that is in the OnCurrent event for Forms would be in the OnPrint or
OnFormat event in Reports.

If you are printing the images in reports, to avoid memory leakage, you
should also see MVP Stephen Lebans' http://www.lebans.com/printfailures.htm.
PrintFailure.zi p is an Access97 MDB containing a report that fails during
the Access formatting process prior to being spooled to the Printer Driver.
This MDB also contains code showing how to convert the contents of the Image
control to a Bitmap file prior to printing. This helps alleviate the "Out of
Memory" error that can popup when printing image intensive reports.

To those that have been around Access long enough, I'm sure that insight can be shared as to what aspects of computer processing speed improves its performance. Perhaps in some respects even sufficient to partially offset an inadequate or poor database design. Also, and using Access 97 as a starting point, have there been significant...

I need to search for database text with underlines in it. However, underlines are interpreted as wild-cards in LIKE clause text . I need to know how to escape the underlines so as to be able to search them. Some DB's use an "Escape" keyword and others use a back-slash to escape wild-cards. However, Jet does not seem to support either of these....
