Hello,
Why would a member of workgroup not get a logon prompt when opening the database?

Short answer - set a password for the Admin user.

Everyone is a member of a workgroup, it's just a matter of whether the
workgroup Access is using is the default workgroup or another workgroup file.
Whatever workgroup Access is using, if there is a password for the Admin user,
then Access will ask for a name and password on start-up, otherwise, it
automatically starts up as Admin and does not ask for a password.

Is there some way of using vba to automate the processe of joining an Access 97 security workgroup? I typed wrkgadm /? at a command prompt and it just opens the gui, so I'm not sure what the parameters are for the command or whether there really are any command line switches for it. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have a problem in getting Access 2002 to read my workgroup file. I've created different groups and users and when the db is opened the user is prompted to enter a username and password which seems to be working perfectly on my PC. However, when someone else on a different computer opens this db on the shared network the user is no longer asked to enter their username and password and they are logged on as the default admin user.

I have an Access 97 secured database which I designed myself. I have the workgroup file and I have been both been trying to access it using a custom shortcut--which I updated to reflect the current filepaths of both the database and workgroup file--and I also tried just manually joining the workgrup file and double-clicking the aplication. I was successful at "joining" the workgroup file. I keep getting 'You Don't Have the Necessary...

We created a Windows Service with C#. The service will start OK on computers that are a member of a domain, but when we try to start it on a server that is configured for a workgroup we get the following error in the event log: Event ID: 7001 Description: The {Service Name}service depends on the Net Logon service which failed to start because of the following error: The service has returned a service-specific error code.

Problem 1 ======= I need to create a page for a friend who operates a school website. She needs to set up a page so that only the Governors can access it. I thought I'd try to use JavaScript to prompt for a password. (I am only an amateur at writing JavaScript). It works fine in my tests when using Firefox but when I load the page in Internet Explorer it causes an error. (I am using the newest version 7 - the

I have created an .mdw file and thru Security Wizard and created a shortcut for people to put on there Desktop so they don't have to Join the Workgroup, because we have other Access Databases that can be left un-secure, so I didn't want to have to log in everytime. However, I noticed when someone not using the shortcut and double clicked into the actual .mdb that it opened for them and didn't prompt them for a password. They couldn't open...

I've managed to write an ASP.NET v2 web page where the prompt to save the password doesn't appear :-( Not sure why it's not working. Autocomplete on the text boxes is working but when you enter username, password (text box with type = password) and click the login link button, IE doesn't popup "Do you want to save this password?". The setting is turned on in IE7 as I've just cleared all my forms and passwords and gone to a couple of web...

I've just had a PC crash, and I need to reset all my Databases. Most of my databases just use the local workgroup file,. but a couple use a specific mdw file. If I 'join' this mdw, all my databases prompt me for a Username and password - which I do not want. What do I need to do?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
