dlookup function error

dear sir,

i would like to get your assitance about the above issues, can't find
any better slutions or codes

- table name: MOTOR2000
- field name1: POLICYNO
- field name2: ExPolicyNo

i made the form for above where is one button for renewal policy, so
one user click, so POLICYNO will go to exPolicyno and new policy no
will be assign by user...but before this actions done, i wanted to put
if check that fails

I want before renewal policy, means if the there is any value of
POLICYNO exsists in ExPolicyNo so it should prompt user that policy
already exsist so can't renew, if not then renew and go ahead

i try all various types of codes and i get stucks could nt success it
gives me error like "previous actions cancel by opertion error no 2001
somthing..."

++++++++++++++
If IsNull(DLookup( "[expolicyno]", "MOTOR2000" , POLICYNO.Value) ) Then
MsgBox ("You can renew policy")

Else
MsgBox ("you can't renew policy as it is already renewed")
End If
+++++++++++++

thanks and kind regards

Hello all, I already put the same question, only now I have more to tell ... Although I used this code before in the same routine (only the fieldname of the table differs) ___ at this point in the code I get the error "You canceled the previous operation" err msg. When clicking on Help I get a white screen. I haven't got the slightest idea what it means .... I pinned down that this error comes from the Dlookup function, because if I put...

What am I missing here? I have a form where I enter a "Class Code". This value corresponds to what sits in table "class code descriptions" along with the "title" of each "class code." Key field is "class code." I want a text box to be populated with the "title" which corresponds to the "class code" which I enter in the form. The control source for the text box is:

I am still struggling with trying to match a user supplied string with strings in a field of a table, where spaces are to be ignored. Arno suggested that I use the Dlookup function, but I apparently can't get its syntax right. Access gives me "Run-time error '2001' You canceled the previous operation" url: http://www.fontstuff.com/access/acctut15.htm, a set of 'Access Tips' has this to say about this error:

I have tried using DLookUp in this manner... If DLookUp("","tblClients","='2021234567'") Then MsgBox "Found it!" End If I am wondering if that is a misuse of the DLookUp command? Type mismatch errors keep popping up. Take a look at this I typed in the immediate window...

I've written this expression for a DLookup function. It works almost alright. What I'm trying to do is type in a description and the ID field (number) populates automatically. It works almost as I've said. It doesn't populate until I go to a new record. Then if I go back to the record the number is in the field. Instead of populating immediately it waits until I've created a new record. Am I making sense with this description. Here's...

Can someone help me fix my DLookup problem. I'm far from proficiency with Access. I've been creating databases for several years for work with the help of many of you and trial and error. I have used DLookup several times and I've actually re-created the same lookup just in different forms. Here's my problem. I'm using dlookup when I enter a part description it adds the part number for me. I choose the part description from a combo...

Hello I develop my applications in Access 2002. My development system is running Windows XP SP2 and I have Microsoft Office XP Developer. Microsoft Office XP is at SP3. I used Inno Setup (great product) to install my applications. When the Access Runtime was needed on the system I simply ran 'accessrt.msi' from Microsoft Office Developer discs. When another version of Access (other than Access 2002) was on the system then I simply...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
