It would appear that you are using Bound OLE Frames, with either embedded
OLE Objects or linked image files. The Control has a property for "show
icon", but sometimes you get an icon despite the setting of that property --
when you use OLE to display, you are at the mercy of whatever imaging
software is registered on the user's system for the file type, and the
interaction of that software, through COM automation, with Access.
What's wrong? Could it be acd-see or
another program which messes up the
system?
Yes, it could be this or one of a number of other things.

approaches to handling images in Access, and the download includes an
article discussing considerations in choosing an approach. Two of the
approaches do not use OLE Objects and, thus, avoid the database bloat
associated with images in OLE Objects.

PrintFailure.zi p is an Access97 MDB containing a report that fails during
the Access formatting process prior to being spooled to the Printer Driver.
This MDB also contains code showing how to convert the contents of the Image
control to a Bitmap file prior to printing. This helps alleviate the "Out of
Memory" error that can popup when printing image intensive reports.
