Report by hour / day

My Access app stamps the date and time for each database entry.

I'd like to generate a report of:

- the number of entries per hour of day (0 - 23), and also
- the number of entries per day of month (1 - 31)

Any insights are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Take a look at using Totals Queries. You get from regular SELECT to totals
queries in the Query Builder on the menu by View | Totals. You'd create a
calculated field to extract the day or the hour, and then select Group By on
that Field.

Since your apps have a date time stamp, when you create a Totals query
to roll them up, you may want to convert the date field using DateSerial
and TimeSerial....o r use the Format. Using DateSerial will be better
since it will sort better. Simply make that an extra column in the
query.

For example, let's say you have a datetime of 12/19/03 17:00:55 stored
to variable x and today is the 19th of Dec.

If you entered Debug.Print x >= Date And x <= Date it would return
False. Why? Because Date is 12/19/03 00:00:00.

use the "datepart" function to create a calculated field for the hour / and
/ or day and use this field as a group level in your report

Syntax

DatePart(interv al, date[,firstdayofweek[, firstweekofyear]])

I would like to make a user report automatically close after it has been left open in preview mode for more than 1 hour. I don't see a timer control or timer event in the report properties. Is there some way to make a report auto-close (time-out) in MS Access? -- Posted via http://dbforums.com

Hello, In my Access report, I have a minutes field in the detail line. How do I convert that minute to hour and minute. The problem for me now is if I take the minutes, say 75 divide by 60, it gives me 1.25; or 90/60 = 1.50. These are not what the user wants. They want to have hour and minutes, say 75 minutes, needs to convert to 1.15...

Hi, I recently encountered a problem while trying to create a report grouped by certain time frames. However, Access only allows grouping in Minutes or Hours. For example, the first time frame is from 5:30am to 6:20am, if I have record 1 with time = 5:30am, record 2 with time = 6:00am and record 3 with time = 6:30am, the report will group...

Greetings. I have a report (actually all of my reports in an MDB) that I want to date/time stamp at the bottom. Previously, I had used the builtin function of Now().
