Tool for finding references to and from tables/queries/reports/forms/objects

Hi all -

I'm wondering if anyone has (or knows of) a tool that will allow me to
search through VB code, tables, queries, reports, forms, and other
objects, for references to all other types of objects.

That's not really that clear, so here's an example:

If I have a table named
"table_i_would_ like_to_delete_ but_don't_know_ if_any_object_i s_using_it",
is there a way I can determine what forms/queries/reports/VB
code/other objects are getting data from it?

Another way to think about it is almost like a reverse lookup. So
let's say I have a form that I know is bound to a query. Well it's
easy to say "ok, this query is being used by this form." But I want
to programatically go through all other objects and figure out what
else is using/bound to this query. It's like there is a one-to-X
relationship between an object and X number of other objects and I
want to figure out what X equals (any number >= 0) and then what the
names of those X objects are.

To do this seems like it would take a fair amount of work, but I can't
imagine that others haven't had the need for this type of tool in the
past. There might even be something built into Access that I don't
know about (would M$ actually create something that robust and
useful?).

Thanks in advance,

Two tools that are well-regarded for this purpose are:

Speed Ferret, http://www.moshannon.com, a commercial software package (I've
used and liked this one) and FindAndReplace, from http://www.rickworld.com,
a shareware package (I last used this one in its Access 2.0 version).

Also, Total Access Analyzer from FMS, Inc., provides a general
crossreference report and CodeTools from FMS, Inc. has a feature to provide
an unused objects output, if I recall correctly. FMS, Inc. is at
http://www.fmsinc.com.

I have a database which will tell you what queries use what tables and what
reports and forms they are used for. Ditto subforms, tables etc, but the
database does not analyse code. If you want a copy, e-mail me direct.

I've developed years ago a small business application (about ten tables, basic relationships, 10 forms, 3 reports a few queries) with Borland Paradox 7, most of it developed with wizards and little ObjectPAL coding. Old'n'crappy. Seriuosly thinking rewriting it from scratch using MS SQL server 2000 as the DB platform. Low on time.

Microsoft Access help says the maximum number of Modules, Forms, and Reports is 1000. It appears that linked tables do not count. What about local tables? Help also says that the maximum number of open tables is 2048 (or less). That would seem to leave linked tables out of the above mix. Can anyone comment on these limits or quote personal experience?

Hi. I created a project including tables, queries, forms, subforms, reports, code, a.s.o. I would like to give this project to users, which should just use the main form. This main form deals with everything, hence there's no need to see the tables, queries, ... How can configure my project so that users don't get access to the tables, queries, code ... ? They should just be able to use one single form.

Access 2000 - Is there a 3rd party tool available, or perhaps some method built into Access 2000, which could isolate unused Access reports, queries, forms, etc? I have a 5 year old app which has not always been cleaned up. I know there are quite a few such no longer used items. I have a "Find" utility which is good, but I need to look for every component individually - it is very time consuming because there are hundreds of components...

Hello all, I've come upon a problem when trying to find where some data in my .mdb file is coming from. This database was designed by someone else several years ago, and now I've been put to task at redesigning it for my company's current needs. However, I've been trying to find out where exactly the table that is feeding data into several reports and forms is coming from. There is no linked table object in the Tables list of the...

I understand it's easy to list all saved queries of a given Access database via Msysobjects system table. However, I have not seen any posting over this NG or other similar ones that also include SQL statement(content) of these queries, though I've noticed some VB code for that. Is that because it's simply impossible to get a query content (not query resultset) from a SQL stmt? Thanks in advance.

Please Help, I have been given an Access application to have a look at, am newbie, etc. When I open the mdb file with the shift key down so that the menu options are available I can see all the reports, queries, forms and there are plenty. But I cannot see any of the tables, as you would normally, and I think there are up to 40. I can find the table names from viewing one of the queries and then

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
