Link from database form to .jpg file on server

I am trying to insert a hyperlink field which will link to a JPEG file in a
folder on a server but for some reason, I am unable to do so. I can enter
the same information in a browser, and it pulls up the image that I want.
Doesn't Access like JPGs?

Thanks,
Bruce

There are three approaches to handling images in Access illustrated in the
sample databases that you can download from http://accdevel.tripod.com. None
of them use hyperlink, but all work for me with .jpg files. Take a look and
see if they are useful.

Thank you Larry. This was a big help. I can now view thumbnail JPEGs in my
Form for each record in my database. My only problem yet to resolve is
making it work on the server. Right now I have my database in a secure
folder at:

www.mydomain.com/db

I have all my images in a folder on the server:

www.mydomain.com/images

Is this a situation where I can set the Base Hyperlink address to :

www.mydomain.com/images

and use the image names in the Form:

images/picx.jpg ?

Thank you once again in advance for any assistance you can give me!

I don't know if you can do what you want across the Internet unless you do
use a hyperlink... there's a Microsoft Inet ActiveX Control for running your
browser (but that's about all I know about it), which might be of help.

Is there any way to link a table to a front end for reference only (no requirement to edit data) so that the LDB file is not created. I use a number of tables for reference and do not need to edit them. I read some of the table values. The form that is displayed does not use any of the data in the reference tables. Alex

I'm converting the backend of an Access 2000 database to SQL Server 2000. The existing database has user and group security through a specific workgroup file. Under the "user and group accounts" there is a button to print the users and group relationships. As there are only about 50 authorized users and 6 groups, this has worked.

Hi, for 5 weeks, I finished my mdb project. Thanks to all you guys. Now, I would like to put it on a server then 5-6 people can share it. I heard about the splitting back-end database, put it on a file server or DB server. Then install the front-end on every client machine. And clients must be able to connect to the backend remotely. Should I use something like SQL server/MSDE or just a file server? If I use MSDE, will I rewrite all the...

I have a split Access database that resides on a file server. The file server is a restricted drive that only people with the correct permissions can browse to this directory on the LAN. Several users use the Access front end to modify the database on the file server, but I would like to make some of the data available (read-only) through webpages with asp. It is not an option to move the database directly to the webserver because these...

Hello tech savvy gurus! I hope someone can help me! THE PROBLEM: "Cannot open specified file" when I click on a hyperlink in an Access database when it is located on our server. For referential integrity, I designed the database with relative hyperlinks (e.g. Folder\File.pdf). The hyperlinks worked perfectly...

Like a lot of database developers, I often choose Jet for the back- end. I'm starting to worry about what will happen when Jet is deprecated. Ostensibly, Jet users like me must switch to SQL Server (or MSDE / SQL Express), but there's something I just don't understand. Without Jet, how will we create file server database applications? In other words, how will we create multi-user apps which use a file server to share data and don't...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
