I have a software application with an Access front end and an Access backend
to house the data. Recently I converted the backend to MySQL. The Access
frontend works fine connecting to the MySQL backend.
The issue I have now is that I also have a syncronized database on a PDA. I
was using ActiveSync and Pocket Access to create the database on the PDA and
keep it syncronized with my PC (backend) database. I'm using eVB programs
to...

I apologize in advance for the x-post, but I am really not sure where
this would best be addressed.
I am designing a database in MSAccess for which I want to make the
front-end in VB.
I have planned out the basic structure of the tables and fields.
However, my experience with Access is limited to doing all the work
within Access, so I have a couple of issues I'm confused about.

Hi,
I have an Access database and am having an ASP.NEt application written for
it. It is almost complete. I have a hosting company that I signed up with
a month ago but before I did anything I asked them if Access and ASP.NET
would work on their servers, they said yes so I bought in. Now they are
saying my application wont work on their servers using MSaccess and I can
only use SQL or asp 3.0. They are saying Microsoft is trying to...

I am using VB DotNet Std Edition and am writing a web application that needs
to read and write to an password protected database.
The mdb files reside in a folder (fpdb) under the localhost
(c:\inetpub\wwroot)
Within the IDE I can view the data using the server explorer and I use that
same oledb connection for the web form.
I have tried accessing a non-password protected db in the same folder using

This program works fine on my desktop when I grant full control of the
MSAccess database to everyone. However, when I put it on my hosting service
with no impersonation, I now get this error (see below).
Can anyone suggest what the problem is?
When I turn on impersonation, I get "unspecified error". See below.
Thanks,
Siegfried

Hello, I have to build a program with the future in mind and I need a bit
of guidance from a guru or two. My program will start as a multi-user
Windows Application built with VB.Net and using an Access 2002 database
backend. The future will require that 1. The database be switched with
minimal effort to SQL Server and 2. A Web Application be added to allow web
access to reports generated from the database. At this time, there is no...

Our Deltek accounting software will be migrating from a Jet database to a SQL express database. In the past, when using the Jet database, I have been able to make a copy of the JET database to my local c-drive, manipulate the database outside of the Deltek accounting software by using MSAccess, and copy the JET database file back onto the server (while no one is working on it) (this is a requirement for various reasons) Once we migrate the Jet...

I've got application A, with a hidden form, whose unload event is
cancelled unless you use an 'exit' button (so I can do special
processing)
this works fine when using just application A and it prevents me from
'x'ing out of msaccess.exe
now, I open application A from within application B using the code

Hi, until recently i was quite happy to add data sources from mssql
database in visual studio and drag the datasets directly onto the form
this creating a directly editable form which worked well.
However i have recently started a project which will require
synchronization to a remote database. Also the underlying database
provider may change at a later date. From what i have read it seems
that a layered approach is necessary, or at...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
