List Box problem after upgrading to Windows 2000

We recently upgraded some of our department's machines from WINNT to
Windows 2000. Up until this point, we were running Access 2000 on
WINNT and had no problems with our databases. After the upgrade, we
have users running Win2000 and Access 2000.

Here's a brief description of the problem.

1. I have a main form that loads when the application is launched. It
contains a list box that queries for two columns from a table: an id
number and a descriptive text field. It then displays both of these
columns in the list box. The id number is the bound column.

Like so:

01.01 Functionality Testing

2. After our upgrade, whenever the user launches any other form or
dialog box from that main window, once they return to the main window,
the text column has been blanked out. The ID column remains visible.

Any thoughts on what the trouble could be, or on what I can do to fix
the problem? I am a novice Access user and though I'm perfectly
willing to fiddle with the code, I don't know a great deal about VB.

Another note---we do have two users who are running Access 2000 and
Windows 2000 SP3. They do not have this problem. I am unsure if that
is because of the service pack or not.

Thanks to anyone who might be willing to help me tackle this problem!

This past weekend I upgraded a server from SQL 7.0 to SQL 2000. This is an NT server. Service Pack 3a was also installed as well the cumulative security patch. SQL Server is in mixed mode (as it was before the upgrade). The upgrade went fine..no problems. Jobs ran, power users accessed the database directly and through their application. However, Monday morning all users who were not local Windows administrators on the server could...

I need to know when the select element's dropdown list is opened (as when the user clicks on the arrow or does ALT-downarrow from the keyboard). Similarly, I need to known when the dropdown list closes. The closing of the dropdown list can happen without changing the dropdown, hence the onchange event is not a sure way to determine that the dropdown list closed. Is this possible in Internet Explorer?

I recently upgraded from 2.2 to 2.4 (ActiveState for Windows). I was accustomed to having the most recent 10 files that I had edited show up under File menu under Recent. After upgrading these don't seem to be saved after exiting. I tried changing the number in the Preferences, but nothing seems to do any good. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas how I might fix it?

Hi there. Since upgrading to XP SP2 on my development box, I now compile the same windows service code and try to install it on a Windows 2000 server. Throws error "Access Is Denied". The installer then backs out and says the "The installer was interrupted before the service could be installed". I have installed this same service on this same server over 30 times in the last year. Does XP SP2 add extra security to the .NET windows...

When I ordered my new laptop, Sony didn't offer Access 2003 in its bundles. Recently, I have begun to design Access databases using an copy of Access 2002 from my previous laptop. It works fine, but I would like to have all the office apps on the same version. So I have a few questions: 1) Is the file format the same as 2002? Can 2002 users read 2003 files? 2) What are the major reasons for upgrading to 2002 ?

Hi, I have to upgrade a number of databases from Access 2.0, Access 97 and Access 2000 to work in Office 2003. These databases contain a number of Forms coded with VBA as well as a number of Queries/Macros. The Microsoft web site says that Office 2003 will open databases created in these versions. However i have in the past upgraded databases from access 2.0 to 97

I finally tried got around to converting an old access 2.0 databases to Access 2000 (these are backend front end databased with the back end tables still in 2.0) Most everything seems to work O.K except one parameter select query which gets its parameters from a form. It's a search query that's front ended by a form with unbound text boxes

The upgrade wizard just hangs on step 5 of 5 when it reaches "Upgrading DataEnvironment..." I have let it sit for 3 hours and it does nothing. .Net Studio is not frozen, but the process does nothing. How do I get past this?? Tiger

Hello, we are preparing for an upgrade to SQL 2005 and as a result of this I became aware that the compatibility level of one of our databases was set to level 65 (current SQL server is SQL 2000 SP4). Managing this server is something I have fallen into, so I am not sure of the exact reasons its compatibility level has stayed lower. When I upgrade the level however, some of our ASP pages throw the following error: ADODB.Recordset error...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
