Create DB for survey results - how?

I need to create a database or something that will allow me to input all of the results
of a survey and then search the results for trends and stuff. For
example, it might have questions like:

1. Your age: [5-10], [11-20], [21-40], [41 and over]
2. Gender: [m],[f]
3. Children ages (select as many as apply): [0-5], [6-15], [16 and over]
4. Check as many of these as you like:
[] The sky should be purple
[] It rains too much
[] Seatbelts save lives
[] I like aeroplane jelly

5. ...
etc, etc

Then I'd have to be able to, for example, bring up all of the people over 40 who like
aeroplane jelly, or all of the females with children who think it rains
too much, etc.

I'm assuming I'd use a database like Access, but I'm not really sure where to begin.

I've done programming, but not much database stuff, so I'd really
appreciate some design tips about where to start, e.g. what tables should
I use, etc

Interesting problem, and to be honest the ETIK database we supply does what
you want, but it aint necessarily easy to program. Just allowing multiple
question formats can be tricky. Still, Access will surely do it.

Are the questions always the same, or do you issue multiple surveys?

Search the NG for a post by Keri Hardwick with the keyword "Survey".
She explains how to set up a database like this. Essentially, you can
do any data analysis you want - you just have to set up your database
correctly for it, and she explains how to set it up and why to set it
up that way.
